Muscular black wasp with fine silvery hairs and teardrop-shaped, glossy orange abdomen - wings folded, black eyes gleaming in the sun - upside-down pale insect grasped underneath its body, one if its antennae held in the wasp's jaws. On a green bramble leaf in the sunshine.

Same wasp, different angle - I inadvertently waggled the ground-level bramble around by stepping on a long trailing branch, but the wasp was absolutely staying put - no losing its prey!

Slender wasp, glossy black with orange stripes on abdomen and legs, and a couple of neatly defined white patches - wings folded; long, curved, finely segmented antennae with a white band across the middle. Gently sipping nectar from a mass of tiny white flowers. (The larvae might be nightmarish parasitoids reminiscent of Alien - the adults are delicate nectar-drinking vegetarians. Who hunt down caterpillar hosts for their eggs...)

Incredibly long and slender wasp seen flying from underneath - long abdomen, implausibly long ovipositor, both in a perfectly straight line from the head - blurred wings outstretched from the thorax - against a rough stone wall.

Same wasp, different angle - its legs folded together, hanging below the thorax as it hovers in front of a stone wall and dark plastic drainpipe.

Dark, compact jumping spider - covered in brown and paler-grey hairs in rough stripes, especially on the legs - looking with bright, black eyes past the camera. Ground is a smooth, weathered tan and brown sandstone.
