When I started freelancing for The Age & SMH in 2003, I could get $1200–$1600 for a feature. Even a decade ago I'd get roughly $850. In 2022 I got $700 – & that's GOOD PAY nowadays Media orgs use us as band-aids on their staff cuts, thinking we're non-union scabs. But I'm @withmeaa.bsky.social
