1st of 3 gigs this week - although this was supposed to be 'open practice' but we're calling it a gig! Great to hear some old & new songs from @constantfollower.bsky.social in their fab new studio space in Stirling. And look at the pretty chimneys on the top of the Wolfcraig building!

On BBC Radio 4, there's a documentary about my life and memory 'Unreliable Narrator'. I've had conflicted feelings about it. It's raw. But it ends well. Featuring a couple of new Constant Follower instrumental pieces. If you're interested in where the music comes from: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Scottish musician to feature in BBC Radio 4 documentary
SCOTTISH recording artist, and three times Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award nominee, Constant Follower, is the subject of a BBC Radio 4 documentary, Unreliable Narrator, which will air on 26 July as part of the Illuminated series. Constant Follower is led by songwriter, Stephen McAll, and this is his story. McAll lost his memory after an attack one night when walking home from his girlfriend's house in East Kilbride.

We're really happy to announce that the recording of the second album is done. So we thought we'd share some pics of us at our recent sessions in Beetroot Studios in Airdrie. HUGE thanks also to the wonderful @constantfollower.bsky.social (Amy & McAll) who helped us out with some backing vocals.

Where would 75% of Scottish bands you like be now if late-night BBC Radio Scotland radio they say they were first played in didn’t exist? The BBC's decision today is affecting Scotland’s music tomorrow. 'One hand Washes the Other'

Creative communities form around a nucleus. A late-night BBC Radio Scotland play by Roddy Hart led to the funding for my first album. 41 people were paid for various jobs in the making. The creative economy in Scotland needs these music discovery spaces. This is what we lose. youtu.be/OeFYC8qU2yg

Is Vernon Kay worth more to the BBC than the future of Scottish music? That can’t be right? Can it? Vernon gets £394k (BBC Pay List 24/25) Mon-Fri ‘Up Late’ show £175k (BBC ITT) Roddy’s weekend show? Say same as the 'Up Late' budget £175k #bbc #bbcradioscotland #vernonkay

Also forgot to add that when they're talking about their 'huge' playlist - of course this is mostly catalogue music - so suggesting it in the same breath as 'new' Scottish music is misleading. To get a new track onto the station playlist isn't going to be easy.

If BBC Radio Scotland is no longer a champion of the #Scottish #music that comes from where it broadcasts to, then it may as well shut up shop & leave what it is doing to other stations, and what it should be doing to other stations.
