Baby Badger (fka Ziti) died overnight. He’d been to the vet yesterday and had developed a respiratory infection but seemed to be fine all day. He ate well, took his meds willingly, and was as playful and engaged as ever.

Our former foster kitten, Farfalle, died. I suspect that she had the same type of intestinal parasite Badger (fka Ziti) is now being treated for. These poor kittens…a rough start to their lives and now two very early deaths. Nature is beautiful and harsh.

One of our foster kittens, little Rotini, died. Yesterday, they were fat and sassy, this morning, gone. Rotini has been lovingly buried on our grounds, with our other cats who have passed on. Please light a candle for them and if you feel so minded, offer a prayer for their next life to be long.

Twenty-four years ago today, I was teaching at a private school in Michigan. I had a late start that day; classes were already in session as I drove in. I was listening to 89X and had just pulled into the parking lot when they announced that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.
