Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 28/08/2026@iskrabooks.bsky.social have just announced that the second volume of Connolly's complete works will be released on 30 October. This volume will contain all of his shorter works, as a writer and editor, including the '98 Readings and letters which have never been republished. 0101
Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 28/07/2026Spent the last four weeks checking each line against the originals, but finally got it finished tonight. The Complete Shorter Works. Every pamphlet and booklet written/edited by Connolly, with a number of previously unpublished letters included as an appendix. On course for late autumn release. 070

Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 24/07/2026I think one of the hardest elements to get across in any article on James Connolly and the British army will be that the story of his enlistment in the King's Liverpool is based on little more than Captain Robert Monteith picking it because one of its volunteer regiments wore kilts. 110
Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 21/07/2026In National Archives Kew and found John Connolly ("James Reid"), brother of James, in the muster rolls of the Border Regiment, 1881. His army recruitment file hasn't survived but it appears from when he moved battalions that he enlisted around July 1880, when he was eighteen. 100

Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 24/06/2026Another day another lost Connolly letter found, this time in an archive in Berlin. It's not catalogued so the archive doesn't even know it has it. I found it just by basic gumshoe research, systemically working through the files. 1265

Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 11/06/2026Just showed up in my inbox - proof copy of the second volume of Connolly's collected writings - the complete shorter works. Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 03/06/2026It occurred to me this morning that the folds in an A4 zine match the dimensions of a PowerPoint slide, so i experimented with a recent presentation and I think i might start handing these out at talks as takeaway notes. (Pretty happy with the improv folding bloc I made as well.) 020

Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 25/04/2026What I have here is the schema that I'm playing around with. I can get these four done in the next two years (the first volume is already finished, more or less) and possibly release them as a set or staggered - I don't know, have to wait and see on that. 120
Conor McCabe @conormccabe.bsky.social · 06/04/2026I think you can a sense of the current lack of availability of Connolly's writings when just two years of his complete journalism comes to over 300 pages and 145,000 words (with notes). 1156
