Caught my nephew running the tap while he was drinking a glass of water. I broke his phone as a lesson to not waste the water that’s needed for Data Centres. It doesn’t matter if it was his Mam’s phone. Lessons were learned.
Uisce Éireann is "urgently calling" on the public not to use the garden hose this weekend, and for as long as the hot weather continues, as drinking water usage remains "exceptionally high".

Got a nice lil ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review for my album with Plus Minus Ensemble in the latest edition of BBC Music Magazine… seanclancy.bandcamp.com/album/se-n-c... @ucddublin.bsky.social @cmcireland.bsky.social
Text reads:

Where the Paths End
Works by Seán Clancy Plus-Minus Ensemble
NMC NMCD296 62:01 mins
From the curious yet satisfying sounds to open this album (which lie somewhere between crackle
of static and spatter of rain), we know we are headed somewhere unexpected. Irish composer Seán Clancy is a true original, and this beautifully-produced disc of four experimental compositions proves a rare and special thing.
The title work, Where the Paths End, is a 30-minute piece for ensemble, electronics and location recordings, created in
2023. In seven movements, the piece offers a 'sonic translation' of walking through an industrial city. Sounds of urban life intermingle with a score that is by turns spiky and meditative, performed with panache by the Plus-Minus Ensemble. As the sleeve notes remark, walking for many people became 'a quiet refuge during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the piece commemorates that sense of solace, building in warmth to the final movement which thrums with laughter and bagpipes.
The other three works
here share this same sense of tender introspection. Fourteen Minutes of Music on the Subject of Greeting Cards is a musical reinterpretation of Deepest Sympathy, a 2011 video work by David Theobald which traces the are of a person's life through greeting card inscriptions. We are not all here moves from glitchy snippets of found sound (all recorded outside a funeral) to drone-like synth tones, creating a subtle meditation on loss, while the mischievous transparency of Five Lines of Music Slow Down and Eventually stop belies the work’s delicate emotional power. Kate Wakeling ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wicked is monumental but left me underwhelmed and unimpressed. Drab colouring despite lavish sets and costuming, and the flow and momentum of good songs is disrupted by too many lengthy cuts and dialogue interludes. Most impressive thing about it is the marketing!
