Ah yes, here is *one* of the other shady things I was alluding to. (There's more.)

"Senior editor" is a technical title, not a managerial title. If Dark Horse wants to give its senior editors managerial duties and reclassify them as managers, it can change their title to "managing editor" and award them a commensurate increase in pay.

Hey comics people, The Dark Horse union needs your support right now. Senior editors do more work than most of you can possibly imagine and they deserve to be apart of the union. Some of them have been waiting a long time for this. Stand with them! Please sign and share this petition!

Regarding the last thing I reposted, this is definitely NOT the only thing shady thing that has been going on behind the scenes since Dark Horse posted their very nice message about how they were accepting the union because it's ✨the right thing to do 😌✨, but it's pretty fuckin egregious.

UNION UPDATE: tl;dr Dark Horse leadership is attempting to reduce union membership by claiming supervisory status for Senior Editors, who have never been allowed management roles. 🧵

Yeah, haha. I could say a *lot* about what my issues were, but it basically boils down to: they really wanted to have all of the stereotypical trappings of a Japan game in a place that—at that point in time—was very definitely not Japan.

Conley Presler @conleydraws.bsky.social · 18/01/2026

ANYWAY I'm not in school anymore and don't have an excuse to write a big paper about it or whatever, so Jimmy just has to hear all about it. 😔

Conley Presler @conleydraws.bsky.social · 18/01/2026

The game doesn't try to be realistic by any means, which kinda makes me feel silly critiquing it on historical accuracy or whatever. But it is also a total colonialist fantasy that is deeply frustrating in many ways.

I finished Ghost of Yotei last night, and it was fun! Satisfying combat! I enjoyed exploring! But also like... part of my degree was Hokkaido history, so I could not stop being an enormous buzzkill about the whole thing.

Don't worry, just the unimportant stuff, lol. ☺️

130

Conley Presler @conleydraws.bsky.social · 16/12/2025

The AI stuff from Larian is extremely disappointing. And them saying, essentially, "People are still making the actual game (writing/acting)! We're just using it for concept art!" is so unbelievably disrespectful to artists.

Truly incredible. I love it. I found this one from my preteen years a while back:

Short excerpt from a preteen diary: "got to draw, and read Raptor Red too.

I graduated high school a couple years before 2008. It was impossible to find a job, and I couldn't afford school at the time despite really wanting to go. Anyway, I was *finally* able to get a degree after all these years, and I just graduated and returned to the US a couple days ago, and uh...

Went to a very special screening of Phantom of the Paradise with Paul Williams in attendance! What a delightful man. Managed to something extra special signed for @conleydraws.bsky.social, too!

A worn and well loved copy of the song book for The Muppet Movie, signed to Conley by Paul Williams.

This summer I went to a few natural history museums, and was unexpectedly extremely moved by some of the paleolithic art/crafts from tens of thousands of years ago. The incredibly long history of the human drive to create art and decoration made me well up at the museum.

I love turn based games! And I love DA:O! And DA:O was definitely NOT turn-based, lol. Anyone trying to use that as a reason to put down the newer games is telling on themselves.

I am so, so exhausted from finishing/turning in the sort of graduation thesis I had to do for my program... but also it was about yuri manga so I feel a little silly being SO stressed over comics of girls kissing.

Everyone who gets an award should be able to take as long as they need to speak, and every award should be presented by a muppet.

120

Conley Presler @conleydraws.bsky.social · 09/12/2023

I was also angry watching the Game Awards and seeing how little time recipients had to speak, if they got to speak at all. But I also will not stand for all the Gonzo slander I've been seeing. The ONLY celebrities allowed to present at TGA should be muppets.

Late game, when we fought a certain Shar leader, one player decided to spare her, but Gell decided "fuck that," ran up, grabbed her, and threw her down the stairs. She used divine intervention, obliterating the whole party—except Gell. We decided he got one final blessing from Actual Thea. It ruled.

030

Conley Presler @conleydraws.bsky.social · 15/10/2023

Non-spoilery as possible: years ago Jimmy played a half-orc fighter, Gell, who was raised by an elf cleric of Selûne, Thea. During the campaign Thea was captured/ corrupted by Shar, and we had to kill her in a boss fight. Jimmy played older Gell in BG3, (and the guardian falsely took Thea's form.)

One of my favorite and most meaningful moments in our Baldur's Gate 3 multiplayer game was something that was not a scripted story event, but instead something that happened due to game mechanics and our choice to play characters from a previous D&D campaign—making it very hard to explain, lol.
