Having some fun in the current After Effects beta. Mixing an earlier variable font animation demo with the new layers as 3D materials feature, Advanced 3D depth of field, spot light shadows and Substance 3D materials. It's a short clip, but so many things in it weren't possible in AE a year ago!

These books from @luismendo.com are so great! Perfect size to carry around in a bag or even hoodie pocket. And so easy to pick up an read a story or two instead of scrolling my phone.

Take a break from being depressed that everything you love is being destroyed by slop for a moment and let me tell you about the beautiful symbiotic relationship between graffiti writers, train yard workers, and model train enthusiasts.

When I lament the loss of the Old Internet, or how Google used to actually work, or how freely we shared links, I forget that a lot of people actually never experienced that. AI slopification is recent, but the decline of the web started long ago, with Mark Zuckerberg leading the charge in the 2010s

Thing is… most aren’t actually trying to “teach” anything. It’s purely for engagement and to show off that they know something. It’s all performative.

Han and Chewie loading their "reward" onto the Falcon in "Star Wars" (1977). I always wondered what was inside those unlabeled boxes, which allowed my imagination to run wild (fuel? money? maple syrup?). Never was there a need for the filmmakers to explicitly say what it was. The magic of movies.

That scared me. But I just checked, can still go back to at least 1 previous full release version by clicking on the three dots in the app in CC, then choosing "Other Versions" in all apps. A few years ago they limited it to a shorter window.

I know rage baiting gets all the clicks, but there’s a lot of FUD and people are making it sound like Animate will delete all your FLA files in 30 days

I can’t believe y’all are going to make me post like an adobe apologist… - New releases for Animate are stopping in Mach 2026 - the app will still be available to download thru March 2027 - as long as it will run on a host system, you can keep using it just like the other old versions of apps

I keep saying this and obviously it applies to any place where there's a headline-grabbing crisis/war/situation/etc: What you see in the news stories about the Twin Cities, even the deep-dive articles, is a *fraction* of what's actually happening. Countless other stories untold.
