Title: Darkness
Author: Forough Farrokhzad
Translator: Jafar Ibrahim

Turn off the last stars
Turn off the streetlights
I have married darkness
I have married the night

On the day I die
A sound will be heard from the heart of the night
Cries from the heart of solitude
A sound from the heart of darkness

That darkness all are afraid of
That darkness everyone wants to cover up
That darkness that is everywhere
That darkness I have married

Beneath my skin
Beneath the darkness of my heart
Beneath the wounds that can never be healed
That darkness will always be there

I have married the darkness
From here to eternity
I will be a companion to the darkness.
