Well, a lot of herbaceous weeds will grow out of cracks but not bust them open, so that term should be used selectively but would apply here. I also use the more neutral term crackplant.

I was so wrapped up in focusing on the Saltmarsh Goldenrod and Eastern Baccharis the first time I visited this site that I didn't even notice that the Tree of Hell (Ailanthus altissima) was a giant crackweed just off to the side. In my defense, there were cars there the first time. #WeedTrees
