Remarkable threat by the Deborah Project's legal director to sue and harass the students and alumni who signed this letter. These are not the words of an organization genuinely committed to combating antisemitism while protecting free speech. They are the words of a bully.
Text from Philly Inquirer article:

"Lori Lowenthal Marcus, The Deborah Project’s legal director, said in an email that accusing The Deborah Project of weaponizing antisemitism “evokes the rank racism of the pre-Civil Rights era when racists demanded the law not be used to shield Black Americans from harassment and other harms.”

The student and alumni group has no legal standing to make demands regarding the settlement, Lowenthal Marcus wrote. She added that they “could be subject to legal action if they insist on continuing on their path of tortious interference.”

“Thank them for supplying their names and affiliations, so we know how to reach them,” Lowenthal Marcus wrote. "

That Robert Kraft and his stadium-owner buddies are fine with "Heil Hitler" but not "Free Palestine" tells you everything you need to know. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/09/17/a...
Text from Boston Globe article:

"Or Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, who has expressed admiration for Hitler and the Nazis and released a song called “Heil Hitler.” Ye played last month at sold-out Soldier Field, an NFL stadium in Chicago, and is scheduled to perform in the coming weeks at NFL stadiums in Houston, Arizona, and at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where the Dallas Cowboys play.

The Cowboys are owned by Kraft friend and confidant Jerry Jones. When Sheeran performs at AT&T Stadium next month, Macklemore will not be on the bill. "

NCJA organizes against the misuse of Jewish history, memory, and identity to erode higher education, silence dissent, and advance authoritarian projects locally, nationally, and internationally. Points of agreement below (and at www.nationalcampusjewishalliance.org ) :
We affirm the diversity of Jewish people and reject claims that any one institution, ideology, political project, or organization speaks for all of us.

We fight against escalating antisemitism as well as the use of accusations of antisemitism to advance censorship, repression, and persecution.

We work in solidarity with others to oppose authoritarian and fascist politics, fighting to defend, strengthen, and transform higher education — including meaningful democratic governance within the university and beyond. We fight for academic freedom, which includes the right to research, teach, and interrogate concepts such as apartheid, genocide, settler colonialism, Zionism, antisemitism, racism, and gender.

We reject institutional censorship and government repression directed at members of our university communities, especially those who are targeted under the pretext of ensuring Jewish safety: international students, scholars, and staff and those engaged in Palestine solidarity work.We affirm, in keeping with international law, that boycotts are legitimate forms of protest and that critiques of nation-states, including of their foundations, are a legitimate form of academic and political discourse.

We oppose collaboration with organizations and individuals who harass, intimidate, or smear our colleagues and students, or who applaud the persecution of political opponents. We instead engage with a variety of stakeholders to develop policies and programs that can meaningfully address antisemitism alongside all other forms of bigotry.

We mourn the lives cut short on Oct 7 2023, and every day since then, in Israel, Gaza, the West Bank, and beyond. May the memories of them all inspire us to work for a just peace.

How to address antisemitism allegations in k12 schools in a way that is constructive rather than punitive? CJFS member Hilary Lustick of UMass Lowell lays out a hypothetical scenario in her testimony to the Massachusetts Special Commission on Combating Antisemitism

Jeremy Burton, CEO of JCRC and member of MA Antisemitism Commission, is misrepresenting public testimony to the Commission. He dismisses the >75% of testimony that was critical of their reliance on IHRA definition as "some used the space to air political grievances"
We Need You to Make Your Voice

Jeremy Burton

On Thursday, September 25, the Massachusetts Special Commission on Combatting Antisemitism convened its twelfth hearing at the State House. This session was dedicated to public comment.

The hearing brought a wide range of voices. Some used the space to air political grievances, but there were also important contributions that spoke directly to the Commission's charge: sharing lived experiences of antisemitism in Massachusetts and offering recommendations for how our schools, campuses, and state can respond.

Flawed definitions of antisemitism are being used to detain lawful residents and suppress free speech. Yet the Massachusetts Special Commission on Combatting Antisemitism says it "will not be deterred in its  mission by pseudo-intellectual debates over semantics." (small 🧵)
