How'd you rig the valve at the bottom of the brew basket? Mine doesn't seal perfectly...but it sure stops flow enough that you can't brew without the mating lid on the factory carafe

Four month review: working great. The hyper hub does not have exactly the same dimensions as the Gaggia's d-shaft, so I had to jankily mount it at a weird angle. But it works great still.

If you need to get to a human, don't call the posted US phone number: you'll get stuck behind an AI unless you have a conf. no. (Which you won't have if payment doesn't go through.) Call the Booking-dot-com Partner number instead. They were similarly useless, but at least I got an actual human.

Periodic name-and-shame: @bookingcom.bsky.social's payment system is faulty, and their AI customer support is abysmal. I called eight times to fix a billing issue. I was hung up on (by AI, yay), call-dropped while on hold (twice), and bounced around between reps...and they didn't fix the problem.

should be a pretty easy conversion - worst case, swap the bulbs, then swap the switch for a dimmer and you're set to jet

Hey @allawayr.bsky.social - just read your article on building a custom steam knob for your Gaggia Classic. How's it held up over time? I need to build one of these myself; currently substituting metric parts since the imperial ones were EOL'd.

This is the first time in recent memory a SAFE-U alert was forcibly delivered via phone call. I’ve only ever received them as text/email before. Suspect it’s pretty bad…waiting anxiously for further news.

I cannot wait for lithium batteries to slowly kill tiny carbureted tool engines. Someday!

Bingo; first thing that was ever drilled into me before being introduced to the Internet. Since then I've often joked that the Internet's memory vacillates between that of an elephant and that of a goldfish: always landing on the least convenient option.

Cheap but noticeable (in a good way) is the best kind of upgrade!

Heh - true, despite how easily espresso can turn into a money pit. (That said, super happy with my gaggiuino.) any tasty roasts lately?

It'd be a fair bit of work, but I think it'd be enlightening to interview current+retired K-12 educators: was strict keyword search not taught as thoroughly as search engines became fuzzier? (Would exacerbate skill atrophy...) Ditto for popular survey, but tons of potential confounding variables.

Ditto sadly. The few new-year-red items I have definitely aren't warm enough for the weather.
