To put this in perspective chestnut trees used to be dominant species in the United States. Billions of trees were killed by fungal blight and now fully grown America chestnuts are functionally extinct. There is no getting them back. Ever. All for a data center. www.gadgetreview.com/one-of-ameri...

One of America’s Last Chestnut Groves Is About to Be Destroyed for a Data Center
A rare 200-tree American chestnut grove in West Virginia may be cleared for data-center development, but the project denies the site is on its land.

I should see if there have been studies done on brain structure and activity in tulpamancers, they're a (self-reportedly) non-traumatized plural subset that could be compared
010
complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 5h
It would be interesting if it turns out that trauma effects brain development differently for dif neurotypes, that would make sense But there's probably large scale differences in structure even without trauma

For example its a misconception that the ADHD frontal lobe doesn't work, it does, just the rest of the brain is louder in comparison & it isn't wired for efficiency Efficiency isn't the main thing brains are for, thats just what this society demands of people & their brains

Clinical language & paleoanthropology language both make variations in human cognition sound more extreme than it is in some ways
110
complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 5h
I don't actually think any of these brain region differences are dysfunctions or "broken" variations though regardless of how research words things. It doesn't make sense in the context of broader biology & the variations in brain anatomy found in life broadly
110
complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 5h
Thats true, mhm Though the brain regions and networks (atleast in neurotypicals) are understood and we can infer their functional differences when they occur. There is a deeper thing though of how brain regions are constructed & interact still being researched too

In schizophrenia the thalamus is also smaller & can reduce in volume over time, so can the striatum(a part of the brain that forms goals, motivations & habits) In psychopathy the striatum is larger, similar proportions to NT kid under 4 years old. Goals & habits easier to act & overide other things
110
complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 6h
DID compartmentalizes habits, routines etc. The 3 primary brain networks are more connected to eachother than to the rest of the brain Default mode network (Mind wandering+ppl think) Central executive (skill access and exec function) Salience network (attention, interest, emotional response)
010
complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 6h
With both happening, both of those things make forming habits harder. Having OCD in the mix can sometimes make a 3rd approximation of habits but comes with the downsides of OCD loops
110
complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 6h
In autism the thalamus and other habituation/desensitization regions of the brain are smaller and have less capacity, so the autistic brain has to process even familiar things the way neurotypicals process a new experience, we don't "get used to" things per-se (as they'd define it anyway)
110
complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 6h
Yes Part of this is in ADHD the dopamine circuits are dominant and hungry, the endocanibanoid circuits work same as NT but you need the dopamine to *start* and maintain the habit til it actually becomes one, and it needs structure to latch onto (like a key tray, common example)

Takes longer like 90 days minimum and if you're autistic too you might only form routines + either way takes a lot of environment structure or meds to build habits

trans women are not honorary women they are not people trying to become women they are in fact women materially in the same way cis women are

get more transfeminist now motherfucker

i really think its obvious the difference between allies who genuinely believe you are your gender vs those that think you are trying to become that gender and there is a stark difference in how they will treat you

complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 8h
Our thoughts and mentalities are "software", the things we run on our brain and body. Our disabilities are hardware (atleast autism, adhd are). You can't play a DVD on a VHS player, it doesn't matter what movie is on them

You're not a deficient person, but god nothing is built for people of our neurotypes. "Everything is built for people with 6 fingers" world You know this, im only saying it to try and comfort you Growth can't be forced out like a product like that, and doesn't undo neurodivergent bodymind

"Male socialization" thing abt trans women
020
complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 8h
Even the "male socialization" thing isn't true, atleast not by and large. We internalized that shit too and realistically we didn't have an actual "boy" childhood we had a "'tomboy' encouraged to repress herself and be misogynistic by her boy peers" childhood

Ive internalized a lot of transmisogyny and it gets into our OCD as"yes i earn womanhood by being an ally bc currently i don't face misogyny bc i haven't physically transitioned" when on closer look, yes i/we have experienced misogyny just the kind that women with "masc" traits get pummeled with

excluding, and scolding trans women from feminist talk, expecting them to put in extra work to prove their allegiance to feminism because they were "born a man" is lowkey some of the stupidest shit i have read on this website and is actively trying to other us from women, which is transphobic

The experience of leaving the front/driver's seat in my system is like what's described in bicameral mind, switching often makes me aware of how fluidly actions feel mine/not mine, and identity/voice. Sometimes its being a passenger and others its becoming another person the other a voice maybe body

complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 8h
The way some of us understand eachother in system, and people outside our brain with the inclusion of modeling other neurotypes, is "what if i experienced this and solved this problem that way, built myself up from these memories and lacked these other ones".

That like a chatbot before we ever saw those, where people could be fed enough context to experience and think of things identically to someone else Yet this feels like how we/i think and process? That everything is very manual and instructed like code would be amost, else that it's sorta channeled

complicatedstims.bsky.social @complicatedstims.bsky.social · 8h
How singlet are people really? And why does the brain (especially an autistic brain?) Decide that people/beings/entities are the best way to conceptualize its dynamics? There was a while where i/we thought all minds were identical with exception to immediate context

The "decisions cause stress and the stress creates voices, the voices can make the decision" (rough quote) even is pretty close to our experience, its sometimes less exhausting. Many "non host" headmates are more decisive in our system Also thinking about spirit guides and such with this too

We are very interested in the ways people have thought through history. Currently watching and reading about bicameral mind theory, and just processing how DID and autism and remembering before we were literate or had internal monologue works our thought processes

liminal horror was born out of the incessant hostility to anyone being anywhere at any time for any reason. Like you can't stay at a cafe for longer than half an hour. all of us rent, and we're barely allowed to personalize that space at all before we're priced out again. shit like that
