50 years ago, on the 9th of September 1976, Chairman Mao Zedong died. Today we remember this outstanding revolutionary who brought forward the science of Marxism for the whole world. We also soberly acknowledge how his death affected the Chinese Revolution.

Transphobic attacks on the Welsh Gender Service, supported by supposedly reputable media outlets like Nation Cymru, have now bourne fruit: Our sources in the trans community tell us that the Cardiff GIC has begun cancelling scheduled surgeries for trans patients.

Over the past few weeks an attack has been launched on the Welsh Gender Service, spearheaded by right wing politicians but supported by supposedly reputable media outlets like Nation Cymru.

Now our sources in the trans community tell us that the Cardiff GIC has begun cancelling scheduled surgeries for trans patients.

As far as we know no news outlet has picked up this story yet so we feel a duty to inform our followers.

We welcome the organic response already forming in the trans community, but its clear that the current methods of marches, lobbying and so on are no longer sufficient.

Trans people and our cis allies need to organise to directly take on the transphobic apparatus denying us healthcare, and keep working to build strong DIY networks in the meantime.

If there's a trans person in your community struggling today, lend them your strength. Remember, the only antidote to despair is action.

In light of the recent constitution of Conradh na Saoirse Náisiúnta, Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru and Conradh na Saoirse Náisiúnta deem it necessary to clearly set out our shared principles and to outline the primary tasks and challenges facing our revolutionary struggles.
As communists and republicans in nations close to the centre of global imperialism we have both a common enemy and a common responsibility. In spite of its decaying form, the British state, once the head of a global regime of slavery, colonialism and exploitation, remains a key pillar of the modern imperialist system through its financial capital and its role as a partner of the United States. It is impossible to disentangle the modern British state from a series of historical processes rooted in imperialism and exploitation, both at home and abroad. The pre-modern royal English state, followed by the establishment of the early modern British state by the 18th century, was built by a series of agricultural, mercantile and later industrial and financial capitalists from different national backgrounds who were united together in service of exploiting both those in the imperial core and the colonial periphery. Whether English, Scottish or Welsh, those same capitalists wielded the institutions of the British state to subjugate and exploit the working and oppressed peoples of the world, expanding across Ireland and then later into the Americas, Asia and Africa in service of the accumulation of capital, on which our modern world was built and on which contemporary systems of domination and exploitation remain.

The imperialist nature of the British state is immediately laid bare by its continued colonial domination of Ireland, both through its direct occupation of the six counties in the north and its semi-colonial subjugation of the twenty six county state. Further, the very concept of British national unity has been, from its inception, a tool of the exploiters. It enabled the construction of a stable base for imperial expansion through the integration and reconciliation of various non-English political and economic interests into a unified state project, as well as the integration of white workers from England, Scotland and Wales into a cultural paradigm of Britishness that placed them at the top of a global racial hierarchy, while enabling them to enjoy the proceeds of imperial exploitation in the form of cheap manufactured goods from the periphery and strong public services. This legacy has continued to today, from the use of British airbases in the current imperialist assault on Iran to the RAF spyplanes used to aid the genocide of the people of Palestine.

Failure to base their struggles on a concrete understanding of this reality has been one of the chief sources of error for working class and revolutionary organisations across these islands, manifesting primarily in right opportunism. This can be seen in the form of economism within large sections of the labour movement, resulting in collaboration with British imperialism to increase workers’ wages without actually addressing the fundamental relation of exploitation between workers in the imperial core and global periphery, to the dismissal of the national question in Britain as well as in Ireland, which precedes the tailism and reformism of many ostensibly communist organisations. This trend, and its relation to a lack of comprehension of both imperialism and Britain’s role in it as part of a global system of domination and exploitation, has become starkly illustrated by the abandonment of internationalist and anti-imperialist principles by swathes of the modern British communist movement, whilst maintaining a dogmatic stance against progressive national movements in Britain or Revolutionary Republican organisations in Ireland.

We wholeheartedly condemn the new anti-trans guidance this government have produced, and send unequivocal solidarity to our trans comrades & neighbours. We call on everyone, trans and cis, to defy this attempt to segregate trans people out of public life. 1/2

The government have published their latest attack on the trans community. What is being proposed has been weakened by the efforts of many progressive groups, but is still fundamentally an attempt to segregate trans people out of public spaces.

This is the product of an organised hate movement. It must be resisted. We call on everyone, trans and cis, to defy this guidance any way they can and to agitate against it.

As ever, we send unequivocal support and solidarity to our trans comrades & neighbours.

The guidance refers to cis women and cis men as “biological women” and “biological men”. This degrades trans people by treating them as “fake women” and “fake men”, and wilfully ignores the biological changes many trans people undergo during transition.

It totally ignores intersex people, assuming that everyone is neatly born male or female and that that “birth sex”, is the most relevant factor in

It treats the presence of trans people in public spaces as potential discrimination against cis people, and argues that the removal of trans people from those spaces can be a reasonable step.

It allows venues to relegate trans people to gender neutral facilities only, treating them as a de-facto “third sex”, as second-class citizens.

Dedicated trans organisations have already been posting detailed overviews of the guidance and its implications. We suggest reading those statements after this one.

Fantastic journalistic and mutual aid work is already being done in the trans community, and that is a strong foundation for the wider progressive movement to build upon when opposing this anti-trans guidance.

Cis people must pull their weight and follow the lead of their trans peers. When a vulnerable section of the working class comes under attack, it is the responsibility of the rest of the class to rally around and defend them.

Capitalism has since its beginning relied on strict enforcement of gender roles and gendered labour. As science and conditions have advanced, and new innovations have given queer communities new language and ideas to organise around, the capitalist gender order faces new challenges.

To defend itself and adapt to this change, the capitalist system has tried to assimilate the more “acceptable” aspects of the LGBTQ+ movement, while continuing intense persecution of the less “marketable” and more “radical” aspects.

The result is a growing trans underclass, relegated to the sections of the sevice industries with the worst conditions, doing traditionally “feminine” labour. Trans women in particular are one of the worst paid and most under-employed demographics in the whole of Europe.

Today is International Womens Day (IWD), but not enough people know why the 8th of March was selected to commemorate it. On the 8th of March, 1917, over 20,000 textile workers, mostly women, filled the streets of Petrograd, Russia, and demanded 'Peace, Land & Bread!'
They wanted an end to the imperialist war, an end to the needless slaughter of the global working class, they wanted economic control over their own lives, land for the peasants and food for the people.
These 20,000 workers lit the spark which eventually set off the greatest revolution the world had seen - the Russian Revolution. The Russian Revolution of 1917 overthrew the hated Tsar, and instituted working class democracy, rather than bourgeois capitalist democracy.

Text reads: WELSH WOMEN'S PEACE MOVEMENT
Welsh women have always been at the forefront of the fight for peace, in the wake of the catastrophic World War One, 400,000 Welsh women signed a petition calling for global peace.
We would like to pay homage to the women who fought for peace for all over the last 100 years. In 1981, women marched from Cardiff to Berkshire in England, to the Greenham Common RAF Base - demanding to do an inspection of the site to see if nuclear missiles were there. By 1982, 30,000 women were at the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp, and formed a human wall around the base. The camp lasted from 1981-2000.
In 1989, the police attacked and killed Helen Wyn
Thomas - one of the protesters.

CLOSURES
In 1984-85, a network called 'Women Against Pit Closures' formed, in protest of the Thatcherite plans to destroy the mining industries in Britain. Often mischaracterised as the 'first time' women got involved in political agitation, Welsh women have been at the forefront of the workers movement since the beginning.
Like Annie Powell, who joined the Communist Party of Great Britain in the 1930s, elected as a Communist Councillor in the 50s, and a Mayor in the Rhondda in the 60s, Welsh working class women have always fought for their rights.

Why do we, communists, honour a Welsh holiday celebrating a Christian saint? Simple - capitalism seeks to homogenise Wales into being England. To resist capitalism is to protect Welsh history and culture.

Like much of Welsh history from this period, the story of St Dwynwen has become influenced by folklore and local legends, meaning that there are a great many variations in the story of her life from teller to teller.
Dwynwen was a fifth century Welsh noblewoman who lived in Ynys Môn. She was the daughter of King Brychan Brycheiniog, who by one telling of the story forbade her marriage to Maelon Dafodrill. In response, Dwynwen prayed she would fall out of love with Maelon. In reply to her prayers, an angel provided Dwynwen with a potion to turn Maelon into ice.
God then offered Dwynwen three requests. Dwynwen asked that Maelon be released
I, the God look after all true lovers, and that
she may remain unmarried. Upon having these wishes granted, Dwynwen travelled to the remote Ynys Landdwyn where she acted as a healer for pilgrims that sought her out until her death in 460 A.D.

Even in cases where local folklore is embraced by capitalist media, it is sanitised and sold back to people in its culture of origin to enrich the owners of media conglomerates.
The revolutionary response to this erosion and commodification is to study and embrace the traditions and culture that capitalism cannot co-opt. Yesterday, the people of Cymru mourned and commemorated the tragedy of Aberfan, where 144 people, including 116 children, died tragically from a preventable coal slip.

This is how Neo-Nazi Group White Vanguard decided to respond to a post about the TRAGEDY: threats, jokes and anti-semitic dogwhistles ON A DAY OF NATIONAL MOURNING.

These thugs have nothing to offer the people of Cymru besides violence and hatred. They do not care that Welsh people continue to live in the shadow of coal tips, and they do not care that Welsh people continue to experience extreme poverty.

The far-right do not care about the children who died at Aberfan; they do not care about the people of Wales.
