Ai, as something that can only ever produce an approximation of things humans have already said, perfectly aligns with conservative perspectives on art which state that art must bolster the majority and comfort the oppressor. Art must not challenge, merely entertain. This is ai slop in a nutshell.

This is why conservatives are so against "woke" trends in media. To them, a black person in a leading role IS a betrayal of art, because it challenges their racist preconceptions that black people are fundamentally lesser human beings who cannot play leading roles.

I'm sure you've heard the line "art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable." But that's just one opinion of how art should be (one I agree with, mind you). Conservatives essentially want the exact opposite: art that reinforces the status quo. Art that agrees with them.

Support for ai is overwhelmingly from conservatives because ai "art" aligns perfectly with conservative cultural sensibilities. LLM's, as aggregate machines, can never push out anything new or unique, merely things that reflect what already is.

Remember that if a slopmonger tries to claim they don't see any issues with Ai, they are either disingenuous, ignorant, or an asshole. Probably a combination of all three! You should call them out on this, don't let them drag you into wasting your time on something they've proven they won't read.

Barring that, I think, the only times I can consistently stream are when I'm feeling confident enough to just ignore the fact that I'm audible across pretty much the entire house, which is much too rare of an occurrence

I can get a better mic or a capture card so that I don't have to speak AS loud, but I think the only real solution to this is soundproof foam to diffuse my voice so that it's unintelligible outside the room

Genuinely my biggest issue with streaming is cheap ass American construction with paper thin walls that do not block ANY noise across the entire house. Any normal speaking voice can be heard anywhere, and streaming requires a bit more than normal volume

It still might be the best low science fiction game that exists, given that most ever other sci-fi game goes for space opera style stories. But Half-Life 2 puts you right into the middle of an Outside Context Problem, and that's such a unique setting for any story, much less s video game!

All in all, replaying half life 2 has a real sense of melancholy about it. That a game this exceptional - on its own merits, but especially for the time it was made - will likely never have a real ending. I would call it the best sci-fi video game, if it had an ending.

They really are telling on themselves quite boldly with the accusations they level at someone like Mandani versus Trump and his ilk. An establishment Democrat would never identify Elon Musk as a nazi, but is perfectly fine flinging accusations of terrorism and antisemitism against Mandani.

And most of them would rather not rock the boat to such a degree. Their power is less threatened by a Trump presidency than by mass popular movements which would end up not only opposing Trump, but the entrenched political elite in general. As we see with the recent slew of progressive victories.

Opposing what is happening is the easiest political slam dunk in this country's history. You merely have to call things out for what they are, and not stop talking about them. Capitalize on the anger and discontent simmering throughout the country. That they do not do this speaks volumes.

Republicans do fascism and Democrats don't respond with "no fascism, never fascism," they respond with "how much fascism is too much?" They bring the grotesque to the dinner table. For the odd issue that cannot be normalized, they simply run around in circular discourse until the danger has passed.

Democrats are not an opposition party, they're a normalization party. Their role in the Trump administration has been to take things that should, by all rights, cause massive unrest throughout the country for being unacceptable, and turn them into topics of discussion and debate.
