Been listening to Bonobo's Distance in Static via the Gustard R26ii this morning (while working) and before that, assorted Reggae. The noise is blissful.

#6 - SO MUCH FOOD Do you have any idea how many calories are in a gallon of gasoline? 31,500! You would have to eat about 150 tacos just to come close to that fuel efficiency. Even at $4 a taco way cheaper to buy gas gasoline. 150x$4=$600 @cargobiker530.bsky.social, pump those numbers!

Perhaps Margaret Thatcher would be as proud of Burnham as she was of Tony Blair, should she still be alive today.

And it makes me absolutely sick that people like you defend this so-called 'centrism', which really is just maintaining the status quo (or worse) whilst tinkering around at the edges to make it look like Government is feebly trying to help.

We never hear the media or the think tanks raise the prospect of taxes on dividend income for foreign investors. Making unearned income subject to National Insurance. Or any of the other measures which actually make the system fairer, do you? It is always kicking the poor, needy and vulnerable.

An article that describes a flooring mechanism as a 'ratchet' and describes it as unaffordable is your go to? The article doesn't even get to the huge disparity between those in receipt of the state pension. And fails to explore any of the alternatives.

Well David Sainsbury did contribute £160,000 to Burnham prior to his becoming PM. Is that how it works? Or is it: Progress -> Labour Together -> ThinkLabour Given that Alison Phillips is his chief of staff. Politics bought + paid for under LINO, as it was with the Tories and as it is with Reform

Common Ninja @commonninja.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Hence you think removing the state pension triple lock is 'pragmatic'. This is happening on Burnham's watch. And the fact he himself had made more statements on Welfare reform than he has on tax reform speaks volumes.
000
Common Ninja @commonninja.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
No. You believe in crushing poor people so that those who have more than enough continue to accrue more than they need. The Government does not need to balance its books on the backs of the poor and needy.

Common Ninja @commonninja.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
No. It is not even approaching pragmatic. Making the least well off shoulder the burden, when it could easily be shifted elsewhere, is never pragmatic. If you believe that, than you are a fool with no understanding of how the economy nor the NIF actually works.

Abandoning the state pension triple lock is absolutely fucking heinous. Since 2011 the triple lock has cost £16 bn. Removing the extra tax relief on private pensions enjoyed by high earners would raise £15 bn. Removing the NI upper earnings limit? £12.5 bn. Labour still cruel under Burnham.

What hope does someone who has disability to contend with have of finding work at the entry point in their careers when anything but physically demanding delivery driver jobs are scarce? The truth is public spending is required to stimulate the economy and create jobs.

Common Ninja @commonninja.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Absolute fuck-cuntery. Where do they think these jobs are going to come from? As a non-disabled, with 27 years industry experience and a helluva lot of skills, I spent two months unemployed and couldn't even get an 'unskilled' job to tide me over.

And that is easily resolved by capping ISA allowances to something sensible. I thought that so obvious, you'd think of it yourself. Credited you with too much, obviously.
000
Common Ninja @commonninja.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
No it isn't rhetoric. Trying to claim there there is no advantage to dropping the UEL because ISAs is disngenuous at best. The world needs fewer economists that think like you. Economists that would rather people die in poverty than ensure abundant wealth is shared.
110
Common Ninja @commonninja.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Money is paid into ISAs after tax and NI has been paid on income Annual contribution to LISA's capped at 4k. Extra tax relief is 20%. No extra advantage for high earners. ISAs give most advantage to the most well off. Perhaps they should be abolished in exchange for higher basic rate threshold.

The NI fund is in surplus, despite successive Governments reneging on what the Beveridge report proposed and abandoning, in it's most recent incarnation, The Treasury Grant. I think you need to go away now and learn that the economy is meant to serve us all. Not just the well heeled.

Common Ninja @commonninja.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
That merely notional cost of tax relief is £15 bn. The cost of the triple lock since it was introduced in 2011? £ 16 bn. Remove the UEL on employees NI would net another £12.5 bn. The absence of UEL on employee earning effects companies and high earners. You are misleading.

.. and not raising or abolishing the upper earnings limit nor removing the extra tax relief on private pensions enjoyed by high earners. Let us punish people for getting old instead of making the better off pay their fair share.

Yes, we pay National Insurance. It goes into a discrete fund to provide benefits. It cannot be spent on anything else. Not that public spending is paid for by taxation anyway. That is simply not how it works. Strange that the conversation is about removing the flooring mechanism, the Triple Lock ..

The triple lock has to last another 40 years for the state pension to reach 50% of median wages, which btw is the European average.
000
Common Ninja @commonninja.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
The triple lock is more flooring mechanism, than convergence mechanism. In fact, State Pension can only increase by more than wages when earnings increase by less than 2.5% in a given year.

Rim size plays a part in tyre width. And not all tyres of a given width measure the same. I run these on my tourer in 35 mm width, but they go down to 28 mm. Tough enough for the odd bit of gravel, fast enough to keep up on a club run. www.continental-tires.com/products/bic...

I see there's more Bad Cyclists Discourse again. It's actually a symptom of how broken the UK's road network planning is, but it's easier to complain about what just *nearly* happened to you than to pause for thought about the "why" it nearly happened. The actual real problem is political.
