A timely moment to remind us of an "Agreement on General Principles" TfL's MD Surface Transport emailed me on 15 May 2018 & ask another Q: Why were these 'principles' never announced? At least 93 people killed in preventable Bus Safety Incidents since might not have died needlessly & IMHO in vain.

TBH I knew there would come a day when, faced with so much publicly-available evidence, someone high up at TfL would finally crack and reveal TfL Surface Transport’s worst-kept secret: Safety has never been TfL’s priority on London Buses. But, I never thought it’d be the Commissioner! 😳👏

Based on @rosslydall.bsky.social excellent analysis of @transportforlondon.bsky.social only published ‘24 Fatal Data, it appears about 1/3 of London’s Cycle Deaths were from TfL Bus Collisions. TfL doesn’t investigate Bus Crashes but trusts its Bus Contractors to conduct their own (w/o any requirement to share their investigations/conclusions). Result? 28000+ Bus Crashes per year including last night’s in South Norwood an exact copy of July 2015 Crash www.london.gov.uk/who-we-are/w...
