About 2/3 through with Polybius, by Collin Armstrong. I think it’s aimed at a younger audience, but scarier than “Fear Street.” It would make a lovely movie. Polybius itself remains generic and nebulous herein. And the protagonists are a little bit Lex & Tim Murphy. Not a bad little summer read!

Snow had a controller built for his camera, that would rotate it between shots, with each shot capturing a few frames less with every rotation. Like a lot of early remote controllers, it used audio cues to send signals, and Snow used those cues to create the soundscape.

The weirdest thing about writing fiction in this decade is we're held to a higher standard than reality. We're told to write with nuance, that even villains should have layers, and meanwhile the AI guys are literally shredding art and admitting they want to monopolize basic thinking for profit.
