How is it a 'collapse in gender boundaries and stereotypes' to say that men performing gender stereotypes are women? It's exactly the opposite. It's a regressive & autocratic enforcement of gender boundaries and stereotypes to insist man = performing masculinity and woman = performing femininity.

This is a truly grotesque "trial" of a vaccine known to be safe and effective. It will in practice randomly withhold that treatment from a percentage of children to see what happens. It is absolutely the reverse of good practice.

This (from 1999) is an excellent (if long) read: The Professor of Parody -The hip defeatism of Judith Butler. By Martha C. Nussbaum.
In the United States, however, things have been changing. One observes a new, disquieting trend. It is not only that feminist theory pays relatively little attention to the struggles of women outside the United States. (This was always a dispiriting feature even of much of the best work of the earlier period.) Something more insidious than provincialism has come to prominence in the American academy. It is the virtually complete turning from the material side of life, toward a type of verbal and symbolic politics that makes only the flimsiest of connections with the real situation of real women.

Being concerned about labelling children as 'trans' or telling them they may be 'born in the wrong body' because they don't conform to arbitrary and regressive gender stereotypes is not bigotry. Neither is empathising with confused youngsters and letting them know we love them just as they are.

Fair enough; then you need to lobby for such laws if you think they are necessary. But the absence of those laws is not a reason to introduce a UK law that legalises a new conversion practice.

🧵 Matt Goodwin demanded to be fact-checked live on air when he claimed the UK spent "£100 million PER YEAR on family planning and condoms in Pakistan". He then 'corrected' himself to £74.3 million, saying it was based on a "major news story from October 2025" He was, of course, still wrong... 1/30
Screenshot of LBC tweet:

How much has the UK actually spent on condoms in Pakistan?

Henry Riley is sceptical about Matt Goodwin's numbers so the reform politician calls himself to be fact-checked live on air.

Electroshock therapy and corrective rape. These practices are thankfully (mostly?) historical, rare and illegal. Abuse, assault and coercive control are already criminal offences in England and Wales. Now your turn - what conversion practices are not illegal?

Please give a concrete example of a conversion practice (according to your definition) that isn't already criminal. Sonia Sodha describes her political outlook as centre-left and a "rational liberal"; she is no Tory, and neither am I. I recommend reading the article.

Govt has not been able to point to any concrete examples of conversion practices that should be - but aren't - already criminal. That's because the motivation of the bill is to force compliance with the controversial belief system that sex is a matter of subjective identity, not objective reality.
