"Despite the ongoing rent strike, the building changed hands on May 4, selling for $15.5 million to a numbered company. The director of this company was listed as Rebecca Elkeslassy, a woman based in Côte-Saint-Luc." www.thestar.com/news/gta/tor...

New child poverty report finds the ward Parkdale-High Park to have the lowest child poverty rate in Toronto, and Jameson and West Lodge—where Parkdale tenants are concentrated—to have child poverty rates comparable to wards with the highest rates in the city

Read about what housing researchers, tenant lawyers, and radical thinkers are saying about Renoviction and Resistance in the Capitalist City, out June 16 from @btlbooks.com btlbooks.com/book/renovic...
Photo of book cover "Renoviction and Resistance in the Capitalist City—Cole Webber and Philip Zigman"“Essential reading for people who care about radical housing justice. Webber and Zigman offer us a rigorous study of renoviction deeply rooted in organizing wisdom and experience, which exposes mainstream myths about our housing system, and offers an energizing guide for tenants who want to fight displacement and build community power.” – Martine August, associate professor, School of Planning, University of Waterloo“A crucial guide to the class struggle that exists in the home, not just the workplace. Renoviction and Resistance in the Capitalist City is an accessible and indispensable handbook on the strength of autonomous tenant organizing and the weakness of relying on legalistic and non-profit approaches.” – Mike Gouldhawke, contributor to Briarpatch and the Yellowhead Institute

Showed the new Parkdale Legal Clinic student caseworkers around the neighbourhood and ran into Kim from 12 Lansdowne who schooled us on the fight against renoviction at her building a few years back

My book on renovictions, co-authored with Philip Zigman, is now available for pre-order: btlbooks.com/book/renovic... The book looks at how and why landlords renovict tenants and how tenants have organized to fight back and keep their homes

A five-song demo that attempts to make its own way, drawing from a deep well of musical influences, while still respecting convention. Bleak, yet hopeful. Harsh, but catchy and melodic. For better or worse, Entroper walks its own path. entroper1.bandcamp.com/album/a-new-...

Toronto Housing issues eviction notices to hundreds of Parkdale tenants. There is a troubling silence surrounding Toronto Community Housing Corporation’s (TCHC) “relocation” of hundreds of Parkdale tenants from the 144-unit building at 300 Dufferin parkdaleorganize.ca/2025/12/12/tor…

I’m calling in support of the tenants at 2866 Keele and demand you withdraw the N13 eviction notices. Since you bought the building in 2022, you have neglected regular repairs and maintenance, and last winter the ceiling in the third floor stairwell landing collapsed from water damage. Instead of repairing the leaking roof, you sent texts and emails to tenants telling them to move out. Now, you must work with the third floor tenants to repair the roof of the building without evicting them. It is unacceptable for you to use the roof repairs as an excuse to push tenants out their homes.

If you followed Toronto city council this morning, you may have heard misinformation about renovictions. For an informed account of the conditions which give rise to renoviction, how landlords renovict tenants, and how tenants have organized against renoviction: renovictionsto.com/reports
