Aether and Ego by Joanne Merriam, Inanna Publications: Elizabeth Bennet is a part of the second generation embarking on a centuries-long flight to Alpha Centauri, working in the signal room and studying engineering aboard a massive centrifugal ship. Book covers for Between the Lines’s For the Long Haul: How to Stay in the Fight for a Better World by Chris Dixon: Written in a compact and accessible manner, For the Long Haul takes up the question of activist longevity through five chapter-length propositions. Each chapter names a key obstacle to movement durability and then elaborates practical tools for contending with the obstacle and nourishing long-haul organizing. Focusing on the US and Canada, the book is based on interviews with and writings by seasoned organizers, experiences of past and present-day political organizations, and a broad range of movement histories. Forthcoming 22 September 2026. https://btlbooks.com/book/for-the-long-haul and Invested in Crisis: Public Sector Pensions Against the Future by Tom Fraser: Tom Fraser traces the rise of the province’s mega-pension-funds by melding history, geography, and political economy to situate this growth in the context of Ontario’s deindustrialization, the rise of finance, and the global politics of the built environment. Fraser delves deep into the sordid stories of the public sector pension fund investment world: the massive real estate projects, the infrastructure privatization debacles, how unions fight back, and what needs to be done so we can all save for a better future. https://btlbooks.com/book/invested-in-crisis

We're so excited to publish FOR THE LONG HAUL: How to Stay in a Fight for a Better World, a guide to sustaining long-term activism by movement veteran @withmovements.bsky.social and with @btlbooks.com! The book comes out this September →→ www.akpress.org/for-the-long...
The cover of "For the Long Haul: How to Stay in the Fight for a Better World" by Chris Dixon, Foreword by Rachel Herzing. The cover has a lilac background and shows a black and white illustration of a stream of protestors marching forward, carrying signs. The title text is in a bright pale yellow. A guide to sustaining long term activism from a social movement veteran

For The Long Haul addresses the question of how to sustain long-term involvement in transformative social movements. Chris Dixon takes up this question with a particular focus on our time of compounding crises and widely felt urgency. This urgency, the book argues, is warranted; created a just and habitable future requires dramatic social transformation. Chris Dixon is an activist, writer, and educator with more than three decades of experience in social movements in the US and Canada. Originally from Alaska, he now lives in Ottawa, on unceded Algonquin territory. Dixon is a member of Punch Up Collective and serves on the advisory board for the activist journal Upping the Anti. Formally trained as a scholar of social movements, he writes and speaks regularly about radical organizing, left history, and movement-based research. His first book was Another Politics: Talking Across Today's Transformative Movements. Find more of Dixon's work on his website, Writing With Movements.“For the Long Haul is an invaluable resource. Drawing on meticulous research and extensive political experience, Chris Dixon offers practical tools for building durable liberatory movements that can meet the challenges of our time." —Angela Davis, author of Freedom Is a Constant Struggle

Read about what housing researchers, tenant lawyers, and radical thinkers are saying about Renoviction and Resistance in the Capitalist City, out June 16 from @btlbooks.com btlbooks.com/book/renovic...
Photo of book cover "Renoviction and Resistance in the Capitalist City—Cole Webber and Philip Zigman"“Essential reading for people who care about radical housing justice. Webber and Zigman offer us a rigorous study of renoviction deeply rooted in organizing wisdom and experience, which exposes mainstream myths about our housing system, and offers an energizing guide for tenants who want to fight displacement and build community power.” – Martine August, associate professor, School of Planning, University of Waterloo“A crucial guide to the class struggle that exists in the home, not just the workplace. Renoviction and Resistance in the Capitalist City is an accessible and indispensable handbook on the strength of autonomous tenant organizing and the weakness of relying on legalistic and non-profit approaches.” – Mike Gouldhawke, contributor to Briarpatch and the Yellowhead Institute
