most of us greatly dislike winter as well but thanks to climate change, they are more mild than ever before!

don't thank me. thank whatever monstrosity of an education system allowed this to happen

It's a pretty good place to live, despite the heavily armed and erratic meth-lab next door.

to be fair, the most likely option would not be "occupation" per se but rather to simply quarantine the US from the rest of the world, Escape from New York style, and let y'all squabble amongst yourselves.

James Carville was wrong when he said "It's the economy, stupid" because looking at everything happening in the last forever amount of time, "it's the racism and misogyny, stupid"

It is National Poetry Day in the UK, so for my contribution, I humbly share one of my favourite poems of all time, written by Robert Florence,

BATMAN'S AFF HIS NUT
Batman's aff his nut
Have you seen the way he cuts aboot
Dressed up as a mad fuckin bat
Batterin guys
I was lit at:
"Mate, I'm worried aboot ye
I know your ma and da died
But everybody's ma and da dies
And we're no aw runnin aboot
Hookin muggers and
Kickin psychopaths in the baws."
And that was when Batman went
"Aye, but do ye ever feel like it?
Do you ever look at the world and feel like it?
Like having a big mad base under your hoose?
Do you ever feel like drivin a big mad motor
that turns intae a tank?
And leatherin fuck oot of guys aw night?
Scarin the fuckin shite oot of them?"
And that was when I was lit at:
"Aye. Fuck it. Ah dae."
And that's the Secret Origin of Robin
and everybody else.

i say we let him build the Data Center of Amontillado...we just entomb him in it, walk away and forget it ever existed.

"Trade tension"?? @npr.org, are you on drugs or something? This isn't the result of 'trade tension'...this is the result of overt hostility in the form of threats of annexation, not to mention the threat of extrajudicial deportation for anybody living or visiting the US.

i'm just starting a piece on WWF and Hogan and it didn't occur to me that people might not know who he is...and now I'm worried I have to explain what a Hulk Hogan is for the rest of it to make sense!!

for a slight deeper cut, I found Roberta Wohlstetter's "Pearl Harbor: Warning and Decision" quite interesting if only as a window into how the intelligence failure of Pearl Harbor informed the perception of surprise attack in the late 1950s/early 1960s.

Does Ian Toll's Pacific Trilogy count as one book if you buy the box set? (Bonus points because the cover art is absolutely spectacular)
