Whenever I play a recomp I always just set it to the original game’s settings except sometimes with widescreen (twilight princess) the main appeal for me is running a game with lower hardware requirements with easily altered aspect ratio and fps but that doesn’t really apply to pokemon red at all

Also a while back people went on a smear campaign on Dragon’s Dogma 2 specifically for having additional item purchases on steam (not in game) meanwhile franchises like Call of Duty shamelessly ask for you to purchase things in game. Not saying it’s good but I feel like people don’t actually care

The most disappointing one was this game about time loops that had a good plot but the characters felt like they were written to be “good representation” at gunpoint, and at one point a non binary character stops an exposition dump to explain the concept of non binary people to the player directly

There’s also something to be said about how the technology is evolving slower and slower with both films and games. The jump from charlie chaplin to Alien is immense, the jump from Alien to any modern horror movie is not. Atari to the PS1? Huge. PS1 to now? Most PS1 games pass as modern indie games

Like I can read something and go yeah they’re right but then I think about how it’s actually worded and get completely put off because there’s this air of self absorbed meanness to it. Social media as a whole is practically unusable because of this too. On here I see it the least, on twitter it’s the whole site, and tumblr is surprisingly just as bad as twitter. Even people I normally agree with seem to get off on being as mean and extreme as possible
