fuck Spectrum/Charter and the dystopian capitalist hellscape they rode in on check out this straight up lying bullshit the INSTANT I said "cancel" a huge wall of text appeared lol p.s. the "$60/mo." I'd be "saving" is the amount that they've crept my bill up over five years - should be illegal
A screenshot of a support chat conversation. Gray is the support employee, blue is OP.

OP: "I would like to downgrade my internet service to a lower plan."

Support: "Awesome! Please let me review your account for a few and see what options are available."

Support: "Thank you for your patience. Upon review of your account, the only option to downgrade your internet I show is switching you to 500mbps, and that would save you $60/mo on your bill. Please let me know if this is something you're interested in."

OP: "Can you explain why that's my only option? Is there something preventing me from using the other internet plans that Spectrum offers?"A screenshot of a support chat conversation. Gray is the support employee, blue is OP.

Support: "For your account, the only options for internet is the 500mbps or the fastest speed which is gig and that is what you're currently paying an additional $60 for."

OP: "When I put my address into Spectrum's internet availability checker, it says the $30/mo 100Mbps Advantage plan is available. Why can't I switch to that?"

Support: "That option is not available for your account. You cannot switch to that, because its not available."

OP: "I'd like to cancel my service."

Support: "Thank you so much for sharing that information with me! Our wonderful Customer Solutions team would be more than happy to assist you in removing that service. You can reach them at 800-319-4293. I truly apologize for this extra step, but they are" (screenshot cuts off)

like so lmao
"Napoleon was onto something: In politics as in warfare, the moral advantage is to the material as three is to one. Right now, all of the passion is on the left. Progressives are showing once again that so long as your followers are fervently committed, it doesn’t take many people to commandeer a movement. So far, no mainstream Democratic politician has seemed willing to stir up the hornet’s nest by taking on the progressive brigades. The sauvignon-blanc liberals in the affluent coastal suburbs hardly seem capable of pushing back effectively. The Democratic establishment risks responding to incipient left-wing authoritarianism exactly the way the Republican establishment responded to incipient right-wing authoritarianism around 2015—by going into denial until it is too late."

why you always lyin
Screenshot of text from the article, which reads:

"As my colleague Jonathan Chait detailed in an essay earlier last week, this DSA isn’t just liberalism in a hurry. It’s not just a bunch of Michael Harrington types who want America to look more like Denmark. The hardcore left has taken over the organization. Apparently, almost half of the members of the DSA’s leadership body identify as Communists. The party is in alliance with the most brutal left-wing authoritarians from around the world, including in Cuba and Venezuela. Its New York chapter’s response to the October 7 mass murder and mass rape of Israeli civilians was to blame Israel for provoking the attacks."

Oh interesting, people who don’t know how to build software are getting mad at my post about building software. Cute.

Israel can't help itself when it comes to exploding children, so rather than not do their favorite thing, they do it then play their get-out-of-jail-free card: "their missiles shoot backwards, actually"
No sooner than when plumes of smoke began to rise from the school’s rubble than accounts on the X platform affiliated with, or sympathetic to, Israeli parties began circulating videos and images claiming the school had not been struck from the outside, but was destroyed after an Iranian air defence missile missed its target and fell back to the ground.

can't quite but my finger on why, but this paragraph makes me wish I was dead
Screenshot from the quote-posted article that reads: "Anthropic’s self-image as the good guys was underwritten by its relationship to the effective-altruism movement, a tight-knit kinship of philosophers, philanthropists, and engineers with a precocious fixation on A.I. risk. This community supplied Anthropic with its earliest investors—including the Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn and the legendary League of Legends player Sam Bankman-Fried—and an army of ready talent. These recruits grokked that Anthropic, in the Altman-less best of all possible worlds, would not have to exist. Anthropic’s founders, as a costly signal of their seriousness, ultimately pledged to give away eighty per cent of their wealth."

over on LinkedIn, centrists are tired of being manipulated by the evil algorithm to pick a side, so they ask AI instead
Post:
"A gentle but firm nudge.

If social media is your primary news source right now, it might be time to step back.

I work in Minneapolis. I live in the surrounding suburbs. I’m physically present in the places being talked about, dissected, and weaponized online. And I can tell you with confidence that what is circulating on social media, from every angle, is wildly distorted.

I’m a registered independent. My feed is a full spectrum. Left. Right. Loud. Certain. Outraged. Righteous. And almost all of it is shaped to reinforce whatever belief the viewer already holds.

That’s not an accident. We are fed what we engage with. What we linger on. What we share. What confirms our fears or validates our anger.

Social platforms are not designed to inform. They are designed to amplify emotion, reward certainty, and keep us scrolling. Nuance doesn’t travel well. Context gets stripped. Reality becomes a highlight reel curated by people who benefit from division, clicks, and outrage.

What’s actually happening on the ground is more complex, more human, and far less clean than any post or video makes it seem.

So if you’re feeling heightened, reactive, or convinced that you fully understand what’s happening based solely on what you’re seeing online, pause. Talk to people who live there. Read full articles, not captions. Seek multiple sources that don’t profit from your anger.

Social media is powerful. But it’s a terrible substitute for real information.
We all deserve better than being emotionally manipulated into picking sides in a story that’s far bigger than a feed can hold."

1st reply:
"As a fellow Minnesotan, I agree. If I see a story that seemingly leans one way or another, I ask AI if its true and the impression from both sides. Forget about having real dialogue anymore…the negativity, personal attacks, and gaslighting are out of hand. I deleted facebook off my phone and its been a blessing."

2nd reply:
"That's a great idea. Stay safe and as positive as you can."

this guy on linkedin is building an AI centipede and getting upset at commenters rightfully calling it a nitwit idea
Screenshot of a LinkedIn post, which reads:

AI might inject HARMFUL code into your project!

This could cost $1,000,000 for a $20/mo AI account.

You know you can just use another AI model to review this code right?

You can even task multiple different AI models to review your code in parallel.

Tell them it's their competitors code, and you're trying to find any vulnerabilities.

Sometimes new tools need new solutions.

the gun we invented that only shoots the user 50% of the time seems to have presented some "challenges" in 2025; anyway, we have deployed it in war
Screenshot of a tweet from Twitter. Poster is Sam Altman (@sama). Text reads:

"We are hiring a Head of Preparedness. This is a critical role at an important time; models are improving quickly and are now capable of many great things, but they are also starting to present some real challenges. [Highlighted text begins] The potential impact of models on mental health was something we saw a preview of in 2025; we are just now seeing models get so good at computer security they are beginning to find critical vulnerabilities [Highlighted text ends]."

We need to stop treating psychopaths such as Alex Karp and Peter Thiel as geniuses and start treating them like direct threats to our personal safety and liberty as they keep telling us they are gizmodo.com/palantir-ceo...
Screenshot of text from the Gizmodo article:

Anyway, when Karp does finally get to the idea of existential risk brought about by the proliferation of AI, he says the primary risk is “social instability.” Pressed into describing what forms that might take, Karp describes “Pretty crazy populist movements that obviously make no sense, like the government is going to run grocery stores.”
