I'm sorry to say, but as a junior there's simply no substitute for getting the first 100K lines of code under your belt. 5K perfect lines to witness patterns patterns. Rest is repetition to retain knowledge. There is a fair amount of value in repetition. No AI to save you. #devfeed #dev #coding

Had a chat on #programming with a another #developer who found my #coding to be strange due to lack of CRUD especially the delete part being absent. Unless required by domain, I always opt for soft deletes. Storage is cheap, data recovery is not. Do you guys do hard or soft delete and why?

During my time in large consultant companies we used to have people with zero experience building anything. These same people had the most impressive CV's boasting pages with certificates because they had the time sitting on the bench. I feel that many influencers have taken this role today. 😑

I've been told lately, by newcomers in SWE, that there is skepticism to seeking advice from "old timers" in the business. Starting out Today is much more different than starting out 15-20 years ago. While that's probably true, I would say that the quality of the advice depends on who you ask.
