Underrated Kage.design feature? The giant wall of 100+ OG images for inspiration

Japan is dangerous when you’re someone who likes making things Every shop, menu, bit of packaging, sign and tiny interaction has me thinking about design I’m supposed to be taking a break from building and instead I’m collecting ideas 😅

Travelling really exposes which apps on your phone are actually useful Maps, camera, translation, Suica, notes Everything else basically disappears for 2 weeks Quite nice realising how little you actually need

I think handhelds have made me enjoy games more again Sitting at a desk or TV and deciding “I’m going to play a game now” somehow feels like a commitment Picking something up for 20 minutes on the sofa doesn’t Apparently removing 5 seconds of friction is all my brain needed

There’s a weird sweet spot for software where it does exactly 3 things extremely well and then just stops Every app eventually seems to get tempted into becoming an entire operating system I want more tiny tools like Glance & Boop I have a few ideas for more

Getting older has completely changed what I want from games I used to want the biggest 80 hour RPG possible Now “I can play this for 25 minutes and actually make some progress” is a genuine selling point until WoW Forever comes out..

One underrated thing about LLMs is how many things I’m now willing to learn Not because learning got easier exactly It’s just that there’s always someone there who will answer the stupid question you were too embarrassed to ask

There’s something really satisfying about self hosting tiny open source tools A little VPS with a bunch of software you actually understand and control feels so much nicer than having 15 different SaaS subscriptions

I miss when the internet felt like loads of weird little websites made by individuals Feels like AI might weirdly bring some of that back The cost of making something stupid just because you want it to exist is basically zero now

SaaS isn't dead but I think I’m slowly becoming obsessed with software that I can just buy once and own No account, no subscription, no “£7.99/month billed annually” Just give me the app and leave me alone sometimes

kage.design is slowly turning into the design reference library I wanted for myself - Find a page you like - Drill down into the individual components - Copy one as a prompt and throw it at your agent Should I allow people to create accounts and save collections?

Odin 3 might be the perfect travel gaming device A Steam Deck and my MSI Claw are obviously way more powerful but they’re absolute units This thing disappears into my backpack and can emulate basically everything I’d actually want to play on a flight Been excellent in Japan 🇯🇵

I think local-first software has completely ruined me stowdrop.app opens instantly, stores everything locally and doesn’t need an account Now whenever another app makes me wait for a loading spinner just to see my own data it drives me insane GPUI 🧡

Stowdrop · Capture links, notes and snippets instantly.
One shortcut stows whatever you're looking at. Two letters pull it right back. Native macOS, private by default, synced through your own iCloud. $19 once.

I think the hardest part of getting AI to build good UI is actually showing it what “good” means “Make this look beautiful” is basically useless Giving it an actual component you like + a prompt describing it gets you so much further Pretty much the idea behind kage.design

Going to Japan is going to force me to do something I’m apparently incapable of doing at home Stop building things for a couple of weeks I’ve been going a bit ridiculous with side projects lately so I think I actually need the forced break 😅

Running my own VPS used to be one of those things I just couldn’t be bothered to learn properly Networking, firewalls, Docker, debugging some random Linux issue at 1am… Now I can just have an LLM guide me through being a part time sysadmin It’s genuinely not scary anymore

I don’t think I’ve ever had more ideas for things to build than I do right now The annoying part is building has become the easy bit Deciding which ideas deserve more than 2 days of my attention is much harder

One thing I’m really looking forward to in Japan is actually forcing myself to use my camera properly again I’ve spent so much of this year building things that photography has taken a massive back seat Tokyo seems like a pretty good place to fix that

Okay so @SimEdw was right - fine tuning a model really can get you great results. Fine tuned Qwen 3.5 2B and getting better results than stock Gemma 4 which is 5x larger 🎈 Ready to go in mmbl 😎

Okay I'm so onboard now - Paper is so good. Being able to design and ask your LLM to chip in feels like the future and I can't go back to Figma.

Big updates to the Uini.io landing page and dashboard look 🔥 AI helping with the development means I can spend more time designing which I never had a chance to do before so things get a much nicer level of polish. Would love feedback

Astra might be amazing but it still sadly has nothing on Fable for frontend design. I can give an entire brief to Astra and tell it to do something and it'll still create a slop version of it - Fable just gets it right and it looks beautiful. Shame - I only want one sub 😭

Chris Gregori @codestirring.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
So 3 days ago I asked Astra to figure a way to make my model spend cheaper on a side project by optimising how I was using the output across shared accounts. It’s now 28x more cost efficient without any change in user functionality. Oh and traffic was up on these days. Insane.

We are living in the future I asked Astra to guide me through how to use Figma with Computer Use and it created me a guide in Figma, guiding me through the tools in the app using the virtual mouse showing me what to click and why. A computer just interactively taught me 🤯

Adding the ability to add any model you like for mmbl to do it's work. You can use the on device, entirely private model or if you want more power and don't mind paying your own API tokens - you can choose from a big cloud provider. If you haven't already checked it out do so at mmbl.io

Do people struggle to sunset their old projects? I have about 15 different services running, 80% don’t have any traffic but I love being able to just pull them up. Almost like a mini digital museum of my creations. Costing me to keep some going though 🥴

What it deliberately doesn't do: sessions, funnels, cohorts, heatmaps, replay. If you need those, use Umami or Plausible. If you want the useful numbers at a glance on a 10MB box, this is it. Issues and PRs welcome.

Footprint: • ~37MB image • <10MB RAM idle • Raw events pruned after 7 days, rollups kept forever A site with a hundred pages adds a few hundred rows a day.

Connect Google Search Console and you get the actual search terms Google strips from the referrer. Connect Polar and revenue sits next to traffic, broken down by first-touch referrer, campaign, landing page and country.

It speaks MCP, read-only. Point Claude Code (or anything with Streamable HTTP) at /mcp with a token and ask "how are my sites doing this week?" or "where is my German traffic coming from?" No LLM inside. It just serves the numbers plus a few signals like trend and spikes.

The snippet is ~1KB and cookieless: <script defer src="glance.example.com/glance.js" data-site="site_…"></script> Custom events are one call: glance('signup') SPAs just work (pushState / popstate).

No cookies, no stored IPs, no GeoIP database, no third-party calls at runtime. Visitors are a daily-salted hash. Country comes from your proxy header or the browser timezone. Favicons are fetched by Glance itself. Map outlines are bundled. Nothing leaves your box.

I did it again... I didn't want Umami taking up 500mb of my VPS so I built a tiny OS Go alternative that takes up 10mb. Does it do as much? No. Does it track views, referrers, events, Google Search terms, attribute against Polar, have realtime graph and MCP support? Yes. 👇🏼

Experimenting with some gradient effects to give stored links in Stowdrop a bit more pop. What do people think? 3rd one is just a funky gradient from the colour of the tag you've got rather than a preview of the stored link.
