Forgot to show the filter setup separately, it's just a vent filter from the hardware store with a few inches cut off one end behind a screen Apparently metalworking of any kind doesn't come to me quite as easily as some other stuff but at least my 3" cutoff tool is getting used finally lol

The fan controller is really just an ESP32 that I control through my homeassistant. I just power it off a 12v power brick for the fans, stepped down for the ESP. The brackets are bolted through holes I drilled in the case with rubber vibration dampeners and some pretty finish washers.

The brackets took a while to get down but they're more or less just each a u-bent piece of sheet steel with the ends molded into flanges and secured together with steel putty and a couple rivnuts (both to hold the bracket to itself and to the case). I threaded the bolts straight into fans.

Took me like 3 weeks of fucking up but I managed to fabricate myself some custom airflow stuff for my server rack 🔥 Magnetic filter screens with an easily replaceable mesh, all other holes sealed as well as I can, and I made my own fan brackets and controller

Integration hell all day but I've made a "good enough" smart dumb alarm clock. No real interactivity or distraction, but with the bare minimum smart home controls to make me not miss my phone in bed as much. Also I made the backlight toggleable cause that thing sucks at night.

oh yeah I get what you mean now I don't actually have any, I prefer to keep all mine in jewel cases. Looks nice on a shelf and my car has a little pull-out shelf thing that holds 6 of them; if I ever need more than that I usually just chuck them in a bag but I never rlly do unless its a road trip

Ran ethernet for the first time 🫡 First attempt was rough w/ an insulated wall and not enough working room in the attic but it went pretty well once I swapped to the other side of my room, pretty happy overall w/ the results so far

Besides the usual case bath and everything, I took the time to desolder every single switch to test them and clean the board better- for some reason, the metal plate holding the switches can't be removed without desoldering them all. Worth it though, it cleaned up sooooo nicely.

The keyboard fully cleaned and reassemebled. It looks near-perfect, with the keycap in perfect condition and the case as a whole looking great besides a bit of fairly light yellowing. The inventory sticker from before is gone.
