we've travelled recently, locally, and avoided the generic white/minimalist, instead sought out food-places that are the most idiosyncratic, like a ballaarat tearoom full of delicate teapots where the menu was a variety of cakes and tea 🍰🫖 and it is worth it

In other news, have been trying Hardcover.app to track books as alternative to Goodreads (owned by Amazon) and StoryGraph (good quality but social/fun don’t seem to be priorities) and it is social/fun

Went down a rabbit hole trying to find these other services but no luck. Pocket is dead, Pinboard is ick, Instapaper removed all their social features in their redesign. There’s a couple of sites used by academics… but otherwise it’s a mystery. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Asked Raindrop.io (bookmark service) if they would consider any social aspect like a ‘most saved links’ page (like Pinboard had) but they replied that their focus is private bookmarks and there are other social bookmarking services.
