They were introduced a long time ago before those laws existed. There are other species that do far more serious damage such as possums, mustelids and cats. Pheasants are a nuisance but not likely to cause extinctions.

One thing that MGS did do was showcase ‘variety’ in gardening. The closure of so many specialist nurseries and plant breeders seems to be leading to a blandness that surely can’t be encouraging to a new gardener. There’s only so much you can do with ‘Moneymaker’ and ‘Tanika’…

'Grassfed' really describes the fact that the cattle are on open pasture. This is contrasted to 'feedlot' cattle that really don't graze at all. They rely on food being brought to them. There are feedlots in NZ but not many in comparison to other countries.

Always worth leaving a surprise for future owners. Friend was working for one of the wealthiest Singaporeans. They wanted to cover the entire oak parquet flooring with Carrara marble. Friend had to lift some of the wood for another job. Beneath the parquet was… Carrara marble.

Been going for 30 years. One of the last old style garden centres. Quality varies but general range and prices are the best. Also worth trying - Awa nurseries, Waimauku and Wairere Nurseries, Gordonton for more plants (at higher prices) Kings and Palmers are a waste of time.
