Hi Bluesky! I’ve been in a little social media lull because of how gross meta platforms feel and how TikTok feels a bit like a sham now. I’m not entirely sure where to go with my stuff but I still like it here at least :) #aurora #alaska #northernlights

Hi bluesky! I’m sorry for the lack of posts! I’ve been trying to learn some new techniques for shooting auroras which include a completely new work flow for post processing :) it’s tedious and i haven’t quite got it down yet, but these are the results so far! #aurora #alaska #northernlights

It’s just such a cool formation! Sometimes it’s hard to take pictures when the sky is so active like this but I really like this structure and I thought it was worth sharing :) #aurora #alaska #northernlights

Imagine waking up one night and looking outside while something like this is going on.. we are lucky enough to be quite used to them now, but I cannot imagine what someone not knowing what they are would think if they saw this just by chance! #aurora #alaska #northernlights

this is from 1770 - in Japan :) auroras actually used to be SIGNIFICANTLY more active than they are now (as you could imagine by Japan having Alaska-style auroras). Auroras are like rain, just the space kind caused by space weather 😁

It’s a time lapse! I do real time as well but that video was over the course of an hour. It’s two different types of recording; this is a real time clip!

This was my time lapse camera :) this clip was about an hour long! I record real time as well though! This was overhead a little later in the night in real time!

I thought this was really cool; the aurora on the morning of January first looks eerily similar to the drawings of the September 1770 event over Japan! It shows how intense the auroras have historically been & how valuable historical accounts (especially pre-photography era) can be! #northernlights

I’m trying my best to take more pictures I’m genuinely proud of rather than just taking pictures for the sake of content :) that’s sort of my 2025 goal; less mass-posting and more quality stuff! I hope you all enjoy this one! #aurora #northernlights #alaska

the night is dark, but the day is still bright-ish! “Daylight” is from like 1230 until 130 in the afternoon right now, the sun is just below the horizon! It stays like this from around 10am until 4pm, then it’s dark dark for the rest of the night!

It does haha, there are different phases to the auroras! The dancing phase normally only lasts 5-10 minutes. The building phase is a lot slower and the recovery phase pulsates! This is a substorm (release phase). They’re fun but they are also less common (this size anyway).
