“Morning, V.”

Jayce bustles into the lab, two mugs of coffee in hand. He’s already learned that Viktor self abnegates in the name of science, and it helps to have a partner who doesn’t mind the hustle and bustle of the shared kitchen down the hall. He knows Viktor likes his coffee doctored with heavy cream and five spoonfuls of sugar. Stereotypical omega.

And then there’s Jayce, a stereotypical alpha, wired to provide. He sets the mugs down on the two clear patches of the table designated for beverages, otherwise blueprints and notebooks and drafting tools cover the surface.

He drags a stool beside Viktor’s and hooks his hand around Viktor’s waist. Firm fingers nestle just-so in the patch of belly where Viktor’s womb resides, vacant.

“Oh—” Viktor startles, and before he can reign in his pelvic floor, a small spurt of pee shoots into his briefs. It comes with a curt, audible shhh sound that makes both of them go stiff.

Out of the corner of his eye, Viktor witnesses Jayce's nostrils flare.

Viktor’s body is as always, doomed to fail. Not even his suppressants can spare him the humiliation of autonomic functions, because in lieu of slick, he tends to excrete piss. A new feature he developed since he began working in close proximity with an alpha, a suppressed alpha, but an alpha nonetheless. No drug could distract his body from the six feet and three inches of virile potential that shares his laboratory.

On an intellectual level, he finds himself deferring to Jayce’s opinions, listening intently, gleaning his words and general presence like a flower absorbing rays of sunshine. Within two weeks of partnership, he's managed to rub his cheek on Jayce's sleeve a half dozen times. An absent gesture that he pairs with deep trains of thought—one moment he’s chewing on a perplexing morsel, the next he’s nose-down in Jayce’s bicep, no closer to solving his dilemma.

He excuses himself from these situations with a nervous laugh and an apology that good-natured Jayce always accepts. He’s prone to his own biological quirks, the biggest offender being his penchant for touch. As it turns out, one measly pill a day can prevent a rut, can dull scent to near invisibility, but it does not bind one's hands nor command their feet. And so, Jayce is always nearby. Always breathing onto the downy fuzz at the nape of Viktor’s neck and fidgeting with the buckle on the back of Viktor's uniform vest.

Viktor has not skipped his own pills. He knows he’s safe from the utter betrayal of heat and has been for many years. Yet the ghost of that sensation—the warmth, the internal ache—simmers in his blood, as if to indicate that he should be suffering heat.

That is to say, his uterus is tender. Itchy, aware of itself, and certainly in no state to be prodded by large alpha hands.

“Apologies,” Viktor says at last, perturbed by Jayce's uncharacteristic silence. Blush burns from his sternum to the tips of his ears—how embarrassing to piss himself at work, under an alpha’s nose. “I do not believe I am in a fit state to be touched.”

“Heat?” Jayce queries.

It’s so aggravatingly alpha of him to resort to brutish, one word replies. Viktor peeks up at him, only to find his golden eyes dilated to black voids, inside which Viktor’s reflection glimmers like a pale star.

“Jayce,” Viktor warns. “You know full well that I am medicated.”

Jayce shakes his head and rubs his eyes with forefinger and thumb. “Right, yeah. Sorry. Sorry. Do you—can I—”

Viktor cannot sniff out his intent, only watch the poor man try to formulate a thought, as if he’s the incontinent one with urine-damp underwear. Classic omega behavior—his body found a way to produce a fluid that flusters, distracts, forces nearby alphas into a state of delirium. Jayce is rosier than usual, the apples of his cheeks truly living up to their namesake.

“This happens a lot,” he says. Curse him and his direct communication. “Are you that frightened of me?”

“It is, eh, compulsive. And relatively new. I may need to see my physician to remedy the issue. I hope it isn’t too distracting.”

Jayce finally removes his hand from Viktor’s waist, though he unsubtly runs his fingers beneath his nose before pinching its bridge.

“I don’t know if I can work like this.”

“Are you offended by me?”

“Offended?”

Jayce takes hold of Viktor’s wrist, his thumb quick to press into the gland that pulses beneath thin skin.

“Viktor, I’m—I’m overcome. I’m—well. I’m attracted to you. I can smell you through your suppressants—your soap, your breath, your—” He glances at Viktor’s crotch, moist at its junction. “Well, it’s strong to me.”

Hm, yes. Quite the predicament—attraction in the workplace. A terrible hindrance to the progress of Hextech, one that has worried Viktor since the very day he partnered with an alpha. Can they supersede their biology to change lives?

No, absolutely not. And if they can’t fight it, well—

“Do you think, eh, having sex with one another would solve the issue?”

Jayce vigorously nods. He grasps Viktor’s other wrist and plunges his thumb straight into his gland. Slobber glistens on his canines when he bares them in a wide grin.

“Where? When?”

Viktor tips his head toward the table.

“If we lock the door and clear this thing off, I believe it will do.”

artist's notes: when a paladin and a necromancer love each other very very much... first of all, that paladin is going to fall, and second: you can't have jayvik without necromancy anymore it's illegal. val's prompt was absolute peak and sent my neurons firing; i'm a big fan of fantasy, and i also paint miniatures, so i decided to make something in the style of 3D miniature dioramas. i hope it worked? i took a few liberties here and there with the colors - these two skins' color schemes don't mesh that well - but if i make them glow hard enough you won't notice! hopefully! don't ask me why they're "making out in full armor and with weapons" that's how they are, okay?!
