Maya is clearly on the blanket, which circumvents rules 1, 2, and 3 by being her immediate location! 😉

From the article, "following the public outcry and media attention, the city did dispatch crews to modify the installation. Workers have since retrofitted the Cherokee Avenue bike lanes with bright reflectors and flexible, high-visibility bollards to help warn approaching drivers."

Yep... "John Carter" sounds like an English professor takes a sabbatical at a seaside town to find himself, meets a quirky artist who teaches him to be a free spirit, and a sympathetic side character dies for poignancy's sake. Oof.

We put air bags in cars, sure, but not breathalyzers... He seems to be glossing over how who gets their hands on everyone's dimensional shapes in order to scan them too.

Here with my little 3d printed 2d printer to speak in defense of 3d printing. AB 2047 would infringe on our right to privacy and free speech. It's theoretically about gun control, but ghost guns are already illegal and this bill wouldn't make us any safer.

I'm going to domesticate zebras!!! Or find some super shallow ocean water (and make sure I have some environmental consultants) then add enough landfill to make an island in the shape of a dragon.

Cookies or subscription buttons that pop up on a website 10 seconds in. And decrepit search functions. We used to be able to insist that a word be included or excluded, but not anymore. Video instructions too, when a typed description and a photo of each step would be so much easier.

It's not April 1st, and I have no sense of humor about this. If this is satire, please clarify. Otherwise I'll use my subscription money for better things.

It looks amazing. A less symmetrical pose and a longer, narrower snout would emphasize 'dragon' but only if it really bugs you. It's current nose and pose seem absolutely perfect for the medium imo.

Hi all, could you help us nerds out? This petition protects 3d printing in CA by opposing a bill that's a cumbersome 1st and 5th amendment violating moneysink.

Very concerned about our society. 56% of the population indifferent to dinosaurs??? Worrisome! And Allosaurus and Edmontosaurus fans are well less than 6% of the country??? Shocking! (Admittedly Edmontosaurus is the viola of dinosaurs, but you think sleek, chompy Allosaurus would get more love!)

Oh hell, there's no coffee in the world good enough for this...

Carmen M. @cmellarium.bsky.social · 13/04/2026
Please reconsider this. This violates our rights to free speech and privacy, will harm STEM, harm innovation, destroy cottage industry, and turn peaceful nerds into criminals. Many hobbyists will be happy to introduce you to 3d printing. Talk to us. There are better ways to keep people safe.

This is armchair theory as I have none of those machines, but if it were my choice, I'd go for the Core One+ due to Prusa's track record of customer service and upgrading older machines. The two catches are the price, and that it's still a slightly unknown quantity.

Stop wringing your hands, and start voting against Trump appointees. Seriously. If you care at all for your constituents, stop playing both sides.

The 'Bart Simpson' type of bratty pony that considers human-made structures and barriers to be idle suggestions, and not rules. The type to cause hardware store trips and repair bills, but inexplicably no vet bills. Ah, memories!

This is so incredibly illogical. It's like seeing a group pick up litter in the park, and conflate that with supporting littering. Demon HUNTERS... Not Demons get a cup of tea, cookies and a pat on the head. Sigh.

Planned obsolecense is a travesty. And people who try to weasel untrained 'emotional support animals' into indoor restaurants (just because they want their pet to come along and can't be bothered to coordinate an outdoor table), have no integrity.

I'd buy a giant swathe of land and hire skilled arborists to do tree shenanigans so that when viewed from the air, the contrasting leaf colors spell out Christopher Morley's poem 'Nursery rhymes for the tender hearted' (the first part about roaches)

Finally finished this paint by numbers. It was fun, but I had to fight with the old rubbery paint, and give some colors a second coat.
A paint by numbers canvas showing a vintage motorcycle parked in front of a British inn. The colors are pale like an old print.

I'm delighted by all these anecdotes of 3d printers being snuck into garages. It definitely went through a boom and bust fad cycle, but found its niche and I'm glad it's here to stay.

The idealist in me hates this idea. In a perfect world, gerrymandering would have been abolished many years ago. Pragmatically, you're correct. Anything that forces Republicans to think about fairness, or leaves them fearing an even playing field, is something to aim for.

Epilogue, Our Lady of Guadalupe made her way to a place of honor in family member's motorcycle shop, where she resides with a crew that could use a little extra prayer. In case anyone was worried.

6. I'm not saying to be cruelly blunt, mind you. Social convention and manners sure as hell have their place. I suppose, all in all, the moral of the story, is I'm a great personal shopper! 😉

5/? It's a tax on the neurospicy, when we could be using that brainpower on far more interesting things. Can't be good for neurotypical people either. If you repeatedly don't say what you mean, how on earth can you actually know what you mean?

Carmen M. @cmellarium.bsky.social · 12/07/2025
4/? The point is, it's not even a language thing, because we have different words to clearly express all those concepts. It takes an absurd amount of brainpower to parse what people mean, because people aren't taught to say what they mean, or why they should in the first place.

Shower thought time. 🧵 The phrase "You shouldn't have." It can mean so many freaking things. 1. That action was harmful, don't do it again. 2. That action gave you very little gain for your exertion. 3. That thing you did was a conventionally thoughtful gesture.

Dunno who actually loves it, but those tiny ceramic bowls at traditional breakfast diners filled with cantaloupe, honeydew, red grapes, and one chunk of pineapple as an afterthought, with 1/2" of conglomerated fruit water sitting at the bottom of the whole sad affair. Bleh!!!
