Honestly they’ll struggle a lot. Smash Bros Ultimate nailed the roster. But there are some hype character possibilities I could see stirring up interest. Crash, Spyro, Lara Croft, Doomguy, Master Chief, Leon Kennedy, Bomberman, heck Waluigi might do it. Lots of big 3rd party icons I guess.

I think the important thing is really “are they compelling to watch/listen to/fight against/etc?” Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time and The Wind Waker show how two very different takes on the same bad guy can both work well.

Honestly depends on the story. Sometimes the story fits a misunderstood villain with a point, or who gets revealed as not so bad in future. Sometimes it works best with a villain who redeems themselves. And sometimes you just want an all out evil lunatic that brings death and destruction to all.

Since people are talking about stuff that scared them as kids, I may as well bring up two things that traumatised the N64 generation. First, the piano in Super Mario 64. Refused to enter that room for years. Secondly, most of the horror elements in Ocarina of Time. ReDeads, Dead Hand, etc…

So, does anyone know what’s going on with The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask at the moment? Because Nintendo’s promoting it everywhere. Icons, collectible cards, the soundtrack on Nintendo Music… We’re getting a remake for Switch 2 someday, but that’s still a while off. Why promote it now?

Well, the 3DS version of Breath of the Wild is looking better in the latest update. All Plateau shrines and runes encountered for, plus the whole Great Plateau can be finished like in the real game. Gonna make a video about this soon enough.

I wonder if it may be the opposite in some cases. You see a terrible recomp or mod, so you make your own better version because of how annoyed you are at the rushed/broken one. I know I’ve done that for many, many resources I needed for my own mods and websites and other projects.

God I hate this sort of thinking. Bad people aren’t always obviously messed up, they can be charming, friendly, have a family and lots of friends, have a good career, etc. And unfortunately, they can be great artists or creatives as well. You can’t tell someone’s personality from their work.

Especially as it puts serious pressure on reviewers not to be too critical of a game in case the people that made it get screwed over. But reviews should be an honest opinion on the game, not compromised because innocent people get hurt if you don’t.

Feels like the obvious answer is just to keep doing what they’re doing. The last three new major Resident Evil games have all been incredibly well received in terms of sales and reviews. If they didn’t remake a game for a decade or two I doubt many people would care.

So at least for now, there are no plans at the BBC to replace human actors and other creatives with AI. But the idea of AI-generated Doctor Who certainly horrifies me, that’s for sure. And the fact he seems open to AI usage is probably not a great sign for the BBC’s future.

Gonna be honest, as someone who went from text to video, editing videos is painful compared to editing text. Just takes so much longer for me. It does make more money than writing if you get big (or even decent sized, I make 100 times more on YouTube than my actual website), but it’s not simple.

I think the most interesting (and perhaps scariest) thing about AI now is that you can never be sure your game, app or other tech project doesn’t use it. Like you may know you didn’t… but did you check all your third party resources and dependencies? Would you even be able to check them all?

The game should also make it obvious when you’re not meant to win a fight. Nothing more awkward than wasting a ton of resources on a battle you can’t win… (Alternatively, give players an extra story path if they do beat the ‘impossible’ opponent, like in Chrono Trigger)
