🫱🏻‍🫲🏿Policymakers and employers who aim to create an equal and inclusive workplace must take targeted actions to include & centre the experiences of minoritised groups, to make sure they address their specific needs & barriers.

🚧When combined, these factors can create different levels of inequality and multiple roadblocks in a woman’s life, development and employment. (3/4)

🔎Applying an intersectional lens is crucial in achieving gender equality. Women are not a homogenous group, and they often experience discrimination on the grounds of various overlapping factors such as ethnicity, sexual orientation faith & disability. (2/4)

🧵 What do we mean when we say #intersectionality? Intersectionality describes the coexistence of various forms of discrimination & their combined effects on an individual’s experience. (1/4)

It includes the word 'Intersectionality', labelled as a noun, followed by its definition as 'people's different experiences of inequality based on overlapping factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion or belief, and disability.

We live in an age of crisis, which impacts women hardest. It's outrageous that women still do not have equal access to resources in modern Scotland. Gender inequality, combined with socio-economic crises & public service cuts, have deepened women’s poverty.

As a women’s rights organisation, we are clear that racism undermines gender equality, puts women of colour at greater risk of harm, and distracts from the action needed to prevent violence against women and girls. (3/4)

There is no justification for racism, hate, or attacks on migrant and racially minoritised communities. Attempts to use women’s safety and equality to legitimise racist violence are deeply harmful and must be challenged. (2/4)
