It's been a week and the Rubber Keyed Wonder book's doing great! Stretch goals are out - we've hit 1 for a feature on the Spectrum clones, and there's 2 more to hit; a feature on cool accessories, and another on some very bad games. Don't miss out! Back it here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/48k...

First day back at work after 2 weeks and I'm filled with enthusiasm but only if you redefine enthusiasm as painful sinus pressure.

I love weird spam like this. My website is basically just "Hello World". They can order as many nothings as they like.

Manifest v2 has breathed its last and Firefox is my default browser for the first time in about 20 years.

Me: controlling this game using the trackpad on my tiny laptop is fiddly. I wonder if I can use the keyboard Game: control movement using the keys on your numeric keypad…

There was a huge spider on my bedroom wall. When I tried to catch it with the spider vacuum it fell to the floor and skittered off somewhere. Anyone want to buy a house? May have some fire damage.

Yesterday, had a screen issue with my MacBook so looked at whether to upgrade. Newer model with the same specs was £5300 so decided to ponder it for a bit. This morning the Apple Store was down for update. Now that same machine is £7000.

My back garden appears to have become the mysterious thistle forest. It’s like the Japanese bamboo forest but spikier.

This week's project done - one motorised 3D printer filament respooler. It may also have respooled a small amount of finger because it's got a high-torque motor and no clutch.

UV desktop printing is the wave of the future for home-made custom PCBs. This is way easier than pre-coated boards, dry-film photoresist or laser etching

They say practice makes perfect. I’m going to need a *lot* more practice.

Pretty sure I just removed more lint from my phone’s USB-C port than is physically possible for it to hold. Thank you Mr Vinyl Spudger.

After a bunch of laser and chemical experiments, CAD, cutting, etching soldering, gluing, drilling, and some genuine pain, my first custom-PCB-based device. It’s a smart radiator fan that’s ugly as sin and cost me about 5 times as much as I could have got a dumb one from Amazon but still worth it.

Them: You can use tin-snips to cut PCBs down Me: Best I can do is heavy-duty wire cutters. I'm sure that will be fine. Shrapnel: Hello!

Them: “If you don’t want to use harsh chemicals, you can etch PCBs in vinegar and peroxide which is much safer” Me: “That reaction’s a bit energetic” as I gingerly carry a fizzing, steaming box of toxic chemicals to the porch at 9pm

Almost 30 years ago I bought a cheap flat-pack MDF desk. This morning I disassembled it, drove it about 150 miles, re-assembled it and discovered that it has aged a lot better than my knees.
