Our cats are very upset and having literal hissy-fits because there is An Interloper! The interloper in question:
A young black and white cat with tuxedo markings, barely past kitten stage, is peering out from under a Scandinavian style wood and vinyl chair. The same young black and white cat has come out from under the chair and is trotting diagonally left and towards the camera. The same young black and white cat is closer still, in a half seated position, staring towards the right. OMG this cat is RIGHT THERE!

Hurricane Lowell in infrared, as of about 15 minutes ago, courtesy of the GOES-18 satellite and the U of Hawaii Meteorology department. It's big. weather.hawaii.edu/satellite/index.…
A false-color infrared satellite image of Hurricane Lowell at 7:20 pm Hawaiian time Sept 7 2026, or 2026-09-08 05:20 UTC. The storm is in the upper-left 2/3 of the map, with the Hawaiian island chain towards the center.
The central area of the storm is in red, an irregular-looking deep red curl shading into surrounding spirals of orange then yellow, then green and light blue. It completely dwarfs the outlined islands near it, immediately to its northeast and east.

Psst. It’s a cat. The little wet spots are because this is Faraday’s happy spot. He drools when he’s happy and then shakes his head like a dog and sends little drops of drool all over. He’s such a doofus. I keep telling him that, and it just makes him happier.
A lean gray tabby cat with mixed stripes and spots is lying on his side, looking into the camera, stretched out on a pale bluish-gray bedspread. One forepaw is stretched out, the other curled in towards him. He has on a bright blue frayed nylon collar.

There is a wet spot on the bedspread under his jaw where he has been drooling, and several more drop-sized wet spots scattered around him.

@grumpybozo Bingo! And I think I just nailed the source, via NoScript, by progressively enabling JS sources one at a time or a few at a time. It looks to me like the malware itself is coming from a site calling itself: slncdncloud.beer and probably pulled […] [Original post on wandering.shop]

The Abbot of the Temple of Cat, receiving visitors.
A gray tiger-striped cat sitting in the classic statuesque cat pose, looking perfectly poised and calm, on top of a black cushion on top of a bookcase. Next to him is a Japanese carved wooden “drum” (mokugyo) sitting on its own round brocade cushion.
Behind him, the upper shelves of more bookshelves are visible, full of science fiction and fantasy books. Above him, a white ceiling and sky blue ceiling beams.
He could perhaps be described as “regal”, but I prefer to think of him as the humble and settled leader of a monastery of cats.

@atax1a Here, have a few from my cache of images, in thanks. The first one might even work for your purposes.
A supposed cat photo by mis-fired generative AI, showing a cat on the right, and on its left some sort of eldritch monstrosity in place of a cat, with its head showing as protruding furry spikes of varying sizes, with enormous eyes in strange places on them. The cat on the right has a brownish gray and black tabby stripe pattern; the thing on the left has mostly orange fur.An elderly and grandmotherly looking white woman with gray curly hair, wearing glasses. She is holding a short sword with a blade about 2 feet long, double-edged, and which looks very sturdy, pointed, and fully sharpened. She has a pleasant smile.A painting by an artist unknown to me, showing a woman with auburn hair wearing a dark red blouse or dress, seated at a table and leaning on it with her left elbow; she seems to be burying her face in her hands, and her face can not be seen. To her right, a reddish-brown door is opening into the room and an absolutely enormous white cat with blue eyes is outside the room, peering in through the doorway. It is so large that its entire face can not be seen in the doorway. The overall image is surreal, eerie, and a little unsettling.

A photo from the frontlines in Christmas’s brutal flanking invasion of Halloween. This year it’s a surprise attack on Halloween’s furthest territorial border. (It’s still September for a few more days; we haven’t even reached October yet.) #WarOnChristmas
A snapshot from near the entrance of a big-box hardware store, looking down one of the aisles. On the left is a display of giant animated figures of Christmas schlock culture, prominently displaying the giant yeti from the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer movie that hits US TV every December. On the right, a display of equally schlocky giant animated Halloween figures, including a giant cartoonish vampire and a number of giant skeletons.
The Halloween figures seem to have the Christmas figures outnumbered, at least for the time being. Perhaps they can hold them off with a defensive formation.
It’s still September, not even October yet.

This was possibly the most amusement I’ve ever gotten out of an instruction manual. It’s certainly the most I’ve ever enjoyed the “Unpacking” section of a manual. I feel a little bad that I have to return it, for unrelated reasons, but at least I can share […] [Original post on wandering.shop]
The top of a page from the instruction manual for a powered sander, beginning with the section title “Unpacking and Packing List”.

Boring stuff. Unboxing, parts list, diagrams of parts, blah-blah-blah.

But wait a moment - just WHAT did that say? Have to take a closer look….“UNPACKING”

“With the help of a friend or trustworthy foe, carefully remove the belt sander from the box and take out all contents and accessories.”

With the help of a friend or trustworthy foe.

That’s beautiful.
