I wasn’t able to watch it live, but I upgraded my Hulu/ESPN subscription and shelled out for in-flight Wi-Fi so I could catch up with the WPBL Opener this morning. Yay, Baseball!
Score card & iPad on my tray table. Ignore the errors in the lineup posted by the broadcast (I later fixed them).

Just saw this. Check out the backs of these 1986 Astros oddballs I bought last week:
The backs of six baseball cards with messages like “Handling a bad hop is easy compared to handling drugs,” and “Snag a line drive… and get a put out… try to handle drugs and you’ll be out.”

I was also right about this, and Colbert stopped inserting himself into the musical performances soon after. I assume they noticed the same thing I did, but I always wonder if someone saw this tweet.
A tweet from me from Sept. 12, 2025: "Also, @StephenAtHome joining musical guests was funny on Report as an ego-driven move by the character. W/o character just seems intrusive." Colbert had taken a verse of "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" from Paul Simon in the show I had just watched.

I was right about the Biden interview:
Tweet from me from September 12, 2025: "1-10 grades for @colbertlateshow's first week: Tue: 4, Wed: 5, Thu: 9, Fri: 7. Biden interview will go down as a signature moment." The Biden interview, in which Stephen Colbert and Joe Biden shared deep emotions about the grief they'd experienced in their lives, was on the Thursday show.

Oh, you mean this guy? I had the privilege of working as a researcher on American Masters' "Searching for the Note." I've been a fan ever since.
A young, slightly sweaty Leonard Bernstein conducting in high-waisted pants and a shirt undone to his sternum, an intense look of focus on his face, a damp curl against his forehead, appearing to signal a moment of suspense or anticipation in the music with his hands lightly clenched into loose fists and held just above his waist.A young, literally smoking Leonard Bernstein reading a score, one braceleted hand tracing the music, the other, with a lit cigarette, laying against his cheek.

It's been a minute since I've posted a completed 2-page (18-card) team (in part b/c I won't pay $30 for a 1966 Ron Perranoski, so my 1965 WS Champ Dodgers will remain 1 card short). Here, however, is my just-completed World Champ 1959 Dodgers (I cheaped out a bit here, too; the Koufax is a reprint):
Two album pages containing the following 18 cards (all but the first are landscape-oriented): 1960 Topps Walt Alston, Jim Gilliam, Charlie Neal, Wally Moon, Duke Snider, Norm Larker, Gil Hodges, and John Roseboro, 1961 Post Cereal Maury Wills, 1960 Topps Don Drysdale and Johnny Podres, a reprint* of the 1960 Topps Sandy Koufax, 1960 Topps Roger Craig, Danny McDevitt, Larry Sherry, Stan Williams, Don Demeter, and Chuck Essegian. Hodges, Roseboro, Drysdale, Podres, and Koufax are not wearing caps in their primary card photos, which annoys me. My apologies to Carl Furillo, Don Zimmer, Ron Fairly, and Clem Labine.

*I have Koufax's 1961, 1964, and 1966 cards. I just couldn't make my self go past my usual spending limit to get an original of this capless card, which I've never much liked.

I like that PTC card (and forgot I also have the Kreindler card and a ‘53 Bowman reprint). Here’s my ‘54 Bowman:

The picture is taken from inside the visitors’ dugout on the third base side of Yankee Stadium, with Doby, sitting on steps facing the camera, holding a bat on his left shoulder in his road Cleveland uniform and the infield and right field, including the famous frieze behind him.

Final weigh-in of 2025: 172.4 lbs. Down exactly 34 pounds from New Year's Day (206.4 lbs). I lost 16.5% of my body weight this year (on purpose). And finished 0.4 lbs above my lowest mark (172.0), which was also my lowest in *at least* the last 25 years. Final weight-loss graph for the year:
A line graph spanning 2025 on the x axis and 150 to 210 pounds on the y axis showing the jagged but dramatic decline in my weight from Jan 2 to early October (with a few gaps and upward jumps representing vacations), a slight rise in October and November, then a sharp drop in mid December (I had the flu) and finally a modest decline at the very end of the year.

These are the 4 types of guys online. No exceptions:
The four members of glam-rock goofballs Slade: Guy in a tweed cap with bushy chin-length sideburns; guy with a unibrow, buck teeth, and the weirdest mullet you've ever seen; relatively ordinary guy in a stripped blazer and T-shirt; relatively handsome fellow with good hair, a cleft chin, and a feathered collar who is also the tallest member of the band.

Not a grading slab. Still, freed this ‘65 Bob Gibson and reunited him with his championship-winning teammates (and for less than that sticker price!).

I guess I missed this when it dropped, but this is straight out of Spın̈al Tap. It's of a piece with the "Smell the Glove" cover described in the movie & the actual "Bitch School" single cover from 1992 (below), the latter of which used canine-themed doggerel (sorry) to lampoon hair-metal sexism:
The cover of Spın̈al Tap's 1992 single, "Bitch School." Against a red background, a scantily clad female model in red lipstick, high heels, fishnets, a black-leather-and-chains S&M outfit, and a mortar board is on all fours and being led on a chain that is attached to a dog's paw, which is obviously fake and toward the top of the photo, as if the dog were standing on two legs. The song's lyrics are all dog-themed double entendres. The song was likely inspired by a combination of Britny Fox's "Girlschool" (1988) and Axl Rose saying that "I Used to Love Her" (also 1988) was about his dog.

Here's an entry for the A.I. Search Files. Trying to find an old article I wrote, via Google, I got the below. Note that that those playing dates don't match the career of any of the Corcorans on B-Ref, none of whom was named Cliff. (Though, I have played in a local rec league since 2022.)
AI Overview: The query likely refers to baseball players Willie McCovey, Cliff Corcoran, and Wil Myers. Willie McCovey was a prominent Hall of Famer, known for his hitting power with the San Francisco Giants. Cliff Corcoran and Wil Myers are also baseball players.

Elaboration:

* Willie McCovey: A Hall of Fame first baseman and outfielder, McCovey played 22 seasons for the San Francisco Giants, and earned the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 1959 and the NL Most Valuable Player Award in 1969. He hit 521 home runs over his career.

* Cliff Corcoran: A former baseball player who played professionally from 1973-1985.

Update: So, I weigh the same today that I weighed on March 30, but I wouldn't call it a plateau. A week-long trip to New Orleans (and a few too many meals out prior to that) resulted in a month that looked like the graph below. Hoping to get back on track in May. Up to 60 sit-ups & push-ups daily:
A line graph of my weight since March 30 showing a big spike and drop around April 8 and a four-pound gain during my mid-month trip to New Orleans followed by the immediate losing of some but not all of that weight (yet!).
