Big pot of pollo guisado, smelling wonderful. Normally I use legs and thighs, skinned, but this time I only had legs. Turned out perfectly as usual. dinafarina.substack.com/p/a-semi-ori... #chicken #pollo #polloguisado #cooking #Latin #PuertoRican

Oh no! I need to get my Rolleiflex serviced, but am going to do it in Europe when I am over next. Do they have some good Mamiya technicians in the USA?

TLRs are the best cameras for photographing children & pets. My Rolleiflex was used to make some great shots of these subjects. The reason why they are perfect is because they are silent, the mirror doesn't need to swing out of the way (kids & pets are never still), & flash sync at all speeds.

I prefer it there than in the toilet or garage. A room just for the washer is nice, but when space is at a premium there are more impostant uses of space.

I skinned, deboned & butterflied some chicken thighs, let them soak in a mixture of two eggs, 5 cubes of frozen crushed garlic, salt. Then I breaded with a mixture of Italian bread crumbs, pecorino & parmesan, parsley, black pepper & salt. Baked in olive oil 175c 20 min, flip 20 min, & fan for 5 min

A mate of mine, Stephen Hope plays chess in Penzance. I thing he plays at Redwing, used to play at The Union. The club that does the cheap Thatcher's Gold is Anella Bar on Bread Street.

I am glad you don't think all landlords do not maintain their properties. Just as despite my bad experience with some tenants, I think there are good tenants.

I always donate because it is such a great place. That said I always donate at the Blue Anchor in return for Spingo Middle. I also like Penlee House in Penzance which is free for the catchment area. RIC or whatever they call it now is also nice, you pay once and can return throughout the year.

Again your reading and comprehension skills are lacking. I never once said I rent out properties. Standard answer for everyone these days is fake news, fake numbers, I don't believe you, it is AI. Dude, really you need to get some experience before being allowed out on your own.

You would do better in your chosen career if you could comprehend sentences. Why did I say I was a landlord again? Are you saying all rentals should be removed from the market? Then where does that leave you? You might want to have a go at picking crops. Whatever degree you got was a waste of time.

Jim Thompson @cledry.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
So you have zero life skills yet are trying to schools someone who has lived 3 of you lifetimes. Grow a pair mate. Not too late to get a real job, perhaps some manual labour. I know picking veggies in Florida pays $1800 - $2400 a week & they still can't fill the jobs.

Jim Thompson @cledry.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
So with student debt and all you earn $2000 a month. You didn't do something right. Is it a useless degree for the type of labour intensive work you do? I can understand why you are so bitter. Perhaps learn a trade, electrician, welder, locksmith, plumber.... Would be earning at least $2000 a week.

Jim Thompson @cledry.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
That is where you made a big mistake. Student debt. I went to work at 16, didn't finish school. Got a GED. I worked two 8 hour jobs from 18 to 24 & rode a bicycle between them.. Purchased a used car (I have never had a car payment), got an apprentice position, worked 60 hours until retirement.

Jim Thompson @cledry.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
God you are thick aren't you. I never said I didn't have enough money to retire on. That doesn't mean I should be happy to lose money does it? How can I be hoarding when I said the property is for sale? You responded you were born poor, well so was I. I worked, you don't; that is the difference.

Jim Thompson @cledry.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
You will always be poor. Sorry to be blunt, but if you won't work then you will always only have blame.

They could be made up but if you had any inkling of how business and tax works you would realise they are not only plausible, I have no need to make things up. You really seem like you are about 22 years old, live at home and think the world owes you everything because you are not earning enough.

Jim Thompson @cledry.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Why would/should I work? I am an old man who worked 60 plus hours for most of the time from 16 to 65. I think I need a rest. It is a leasehold property, that means a landlord. When you have worked a lifetime of hard work get back to me. You seem to have zero knowledge of the real world.

Up North you were judged on very few things. You had to have snow white lace curtains, clean windows, the front step needed to be scrubbed with soapstone once a week, and you tried not to buy stuff on tick. You were judged on all these things...

Are you in the market? I will be happy to sell it to you. It is in Penzance, I also have a home in Florida for sale if you would prefer Orlando. I would like to move into a larger home in Penzance so your brilliant idea to sell to a needy person had completely escaped me. 🤔

£6000 for their damage, plus 20% paid in VAT on the rent, plus £1560 paid to my landlord, plus £1308 to the letting agent, plus £350 buildings insurance, then I have ground rent. I installed a new oven & hob, lighting, washer dryer. I kept their rent £780 per month. Can you do maths?

I really could care less if you respect me or not. You seem to judge people without knowing the person; that says a lot about your character.

94% of landlords in the UK are private, not corporations. I am sure some came from money but many didn't. Immigrants who came to the UK with very little also make up a lot of the private landlords. You like to generalise.

Are you asking me? Not the 90s, last year. I always had good tenants until this last couple.

I personally don't think it is just studying online that is to blame. I believe it is that in our phone we have the answers to everything these days. Don't need to learn a language our phone will translate, don't need to memorize because our phone is there, no need to research the phone will do it.

I misunderstood when you said "Not for socializing & learning." when referring to technology and then went further by espousing Sweden's model. It sounded to me as though you were not in favour of technology being used for learning.

Who needs movies when there are drugs. Even just eat a nice bit of blue cheese before going to bed and you will have great movies all night long.

This is if you use their AI features which most of us do. For example I often would use the fill feature to remove unwanted background elements. That used to be fine but they added adaptive learning which made the tool better but alters ownership. With AI being incorporated it now is a no go.

By an old Gillette adjustable safety razor, mine is from 1962. Then buy Astra blades, like $8.88 per 100.

So you don't think the landlord also worked in order to purchase the property? I worked 60 plus hours a week for years to be able to afford a property and then a second, which I rented out. At least I didn't turn it into a holiday let or leave it empty.

Jim Thompson @cledry.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
Not all. I always took care of my property but the renters were not always so mindful of the property. My last couple cost me £6000 in a single year. Being a landlord is for mugs.

The ones that start with a 9 for the film number are being put online but they started for some reason at the end of the alphabet. The films that start with a 2 are I believe to ones indexed by the Cornwall OPC and that is primarily what I am using thus far. These are the AP surname wills.

This is the page I use to access Cornish Wills. I first get the AP number and film, it also gives image number which is often not correct from the Cornwall OPC. www.familysearch.org/en/search/ca...
