Good times at the LA Central Library Centennial celebration 🥳 #booksky

Merch I picked up at the celebration including a PBS T-shirt, a children’s book, they tote bag, a notepad, a paper hat, and the festival poster.

My friends and I going up one of the many escalators at the library

My friend and I posing from the second floor of the newer building in the library

Although I’ve been to many of Yesika Salgado‘s Book talks and signings, I’ve never had an extended conversation with her until today. She’s amazing! This is a picture of her and I.

“No room at the Inn” is a biblical reference about immigrants (Jesus’ parents) being turned away. Not the government. Way to go, Hilton! The 3rd Amendment protects private entities from having to house the government.

5/ Over and over, all over the country, that's all it took: a traffic stop. We counted around 150 kids who ended up in federal shelters — oftentimes separated from their families — because they were in a vehicle that got pulled over.

Banned Books Week display —I’m really pleased at how this came out. 👊🏽 #SchoolLibraries #Skybrarians #TLSky

A school library display for Banned Books Week that features 4 shelves. The top shelf contains the top 10 books that were banned this school year, while the bottom shelves contain previously banned books. The books on the bottom shelves are inside of brown paper bags that say “do not read” along with the descriptions of the book. The shelves also have caution tape wrapped around them.
