I appreciate that. I'm trying to keep the truth alive at least as long as I'm around and kicking. How was the this decision arrived at? It's salient to Martin's story. Mary Hartman is the primordial ooze of 70s brilliance, with no laugh track! I was beyond lucky to work with multiple geniuses

9. Norman is wearing the same hat as he did in Who Is Martin Mull? It may be the same shirt, too. If not? It's one eerily similar 10. It was really hard watching the documentary and seeing Martin Mull, Fred Willard and Norman Lear, and knowing I would never speak to any of them again

6. Fred Willard mistakenly says that his & Martins marriage on Roseanne was the 1st gay marriage on TV. It most certainly is not. While Mary Hartman had the first respectful gay couple who discussed marriage, it didn't happen on our show. The show ROC had one in 1991, beating Roseanne by 4 years

5. The documentary says no one told him he was making a terrible mistake & yet the crew on Mary Hartman chipped in to buy him a 1-way ticket to Fresno, and told him to run for his life. I was there & saw it happen. Sandra was not well liked and had a rep for using the wardrobe budget for her child

3. Martin Mull's character on MH2 was killed off in a spectacular way, and I was in the scene that took hours to tape bc he kept breaking the cast and crew up & they started throwing people off the stage 4. He met his 2nd wife & disastrous marriage partner Sandra Baker on Mary Hartman

1. They completely ignored Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman's role in Martin's life: It was his FIRST television gig & directly led to Fernowood 2Nite being created for him 2. Norman Lear didn't discover Martin Mull at the Roxy - that show happened while he was on MH2. I was heartbroken it was a 21+ show

ESPECIALLY when the Roxy show happened when we were filming Mary Hartman. I was furious and devastated when I found out I couldn't go because it was 21+ show. I *still* had a pang seeing the footage. I should have been there!!

They had him in a perm-fro wig for the funeral. He kept making jokes that was breaking the cast & crew up. After the impalement death took SO LONG for us to shoot (I was in that scene & if I haven't told you about taping it, I should) they didn't want a repeat, and lost the wig. It was a good call.

HOW could they erase Mary Hartman? It's re-writing history. MH2 changed Martin's life in so many ways: the breakout TV role, a bad marriage, and the hit show it led to. It ALL sprang from his role as Mayor Merle Jeeter's (Dabney Coleman) wife-beating Campaign Director.

Sandra Baker was the Wardrobe Mistress on Mary Hartman. They met on the show. She was not liked, and was a greedy bully. She used to buy clothes for her daughter with my wardrobe money. She swanned around like she owned the damn place. The crew gave Martin a 1-way bus ticket to Fresno & said 'Run!!'

I was watching this when you sent this. I stopped for tonight to digest what I've seen. I'm where he's melting down with alcohol abuse. I am devastated that they left Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman out - his very first TV gig. Norman loved Martin so much that they wrote Fernwood 2Nite for him.

Damn. It took me about 15 months when I got it 8 years ago. I had a stupidly difficult time, due to my mother being adopted by her step-father when she was 10, and the paperwork was never filed in Canada. I can't imagine how long it would take if I was just starting now.

BC is gorgeous - but it's been ridiculously expensive since I was a kid. I wish I'd bought in Canmore when I visited there for the summer as a teen. It's hard to see it all developed, though. I need good doctors, and there are many in Toronto, also London. How long do you have to wait?
