No I've not heard that it has to be everywhere at once. The critique I've heard is that unless revolution spreads and is supported then it will ultimately fail, pretty sure Marc said the same. But that is probably quite a hindsight-y type of analysis though But yeah they love the USSR up until 1924

Yeah a lot of that is very fair about the constant splintering. From the few I've bumped into it's been a lot of talk about Lenin and Marx to be honest, not much on Trotsky or Stalin. (Though as I've said to someone else I should probably exclude the SWP, I do not get good vibes from them)

Actually I should add a caveat, I've heard awful things about the SWP, so let's just ignore them 😅 Out of curiosity, what specific flaws are you looking for in their historical examples? Because even among Trots, the analysis varies wildly from 'State Capitalism' BS to a more 'glorious failure'

Recently I've swapped Oban's mountains, lochs and ferries for the big(ish) city of Dundee. It's a very different pace of life, but I'm enjoying discovering somewhere new. It's still slightly mind-blowing that everything is only 10 minutes away.

Reading between the lines, it’s obvious Starmer’s position is temporary. They keep talking about his “mandate” from 18 months ago, which only matters if he can still deliver electorally this time around. If Labour loses in May, he’s almost certainly gone.
