Hey just a heads up a couple days ahead of time, from my theatre persona account over on instagram: a generous anonymous donor is going to match funds starting this Thursday NZT 🙌🎉 so if you were looking at helping out, that'll be the time 🙏💜 www.thearts.co.nz/boosted/proj...

A short-haired brunette person in burnt unber flannel scratches the chin of a white goat, with a hilly paddock and bush in the background

Kia ora whānau,
E-I-E-I-O... and double the donation!
We have incredibly exciting news to share! For Thursday, Friday, and Saturday only, a generous member of our whānau is matching all donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $500 total.
That means your support goes twice as far to help us bring Old MacDonald Had a Farm to life this July School Holidays!
If you’ve been thinking about supporting us, now is the perfect time:
$10 becomes $20
$50 becomes $100
We’re really wanting to hit our goal, and with your help, we know we can smash it! Let’s make this the most spectacular show ever.
Click below to make your donation go twice as far!

Huge thanks for your support and we can’t wait to see you on the farm.

BONUS POST: This other international cover of The Book of Guilt! I just discovered it now while looking for the NZ one, and I'm spellbound. The use of the almost black clouds, the hyper yellow sand, and the Nazi Germany-esque text for the title? PERFECT.

The Book of Guilt by Catherine Chidgey

Three boys wearing swimming trunks and holding balls stand on sand that is too yellow. Behind them the clouds in the sky are almost black.

Claire Hiria @clairehiria.com · 13/03/2026

The Book of Guilt by Catherine Chidgey has this cover in NZ. I love it because it immediately presents me with a glossy ironic facade that I just know is going to get torn down. But apparently that's not for everyone. Annoyingly, the torn facade motif is on the BACK cover! 4/4

The Cover of the NZ edition of The Book of Guilt by Catherine Chidgey. Author of The Axeman's Carnival and Pet.
A bright over-idealised beach scene, with bright blue sky dominating over a yellow beach.
A 50s-style housewife in a red dress runs towards the viewer, hand in hand with a young boy in swimming trunks and holding a ball.

You could do everything else right but if the cover turns people off, you're just not going to get those sales. The Elf Who Would Become A Dragon by @ljamberfantasy.com. The original cover pulled me right in because design-wise it harked back to a style of fantasy from my childhood. 2/4 >>>

Old cover of The Elf Who Would Become A Dragon by L.J. Amber

An elven woman wearing a white dress, with a long mane of blonde hair, staring back at the viewer with a mysterious gaze. She walks through a field of washed-out foliage in golden tones.

I'm dropping this #pretendpanel late because I've been at the launch party for this wonderful anthology. Please consider grabbing yourself a copy, because all funds go to OutLine Aotearoa, a charity which has helped many people in the Rainbow community here in NZ. books2read.com/RainbowStars

A rainbow background with the words "It's release day!" And the cover of the book Rainbow Stars Unite: an Anthology of Queer Writing from Tāmaki Makaurau. Cover has yellow text, a green kawakawa leaf pattern, and a tuī bird.
