I’m a woman with a PhD who has never hurt anyone and who just wants to live her life in peace, but unfortunately the UK Government has decided to persecute me, along with my siblings because we’re trans. I will not assist in my own segregation! 🏳️‍⚧️

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... I can't really describe how evil and cruel this is. I can't really describe how this is one of the most awful policies I've ever heard, and how much it will hurt people. I don't even really have the words.

Trans people should use hospital spaces according to biological sex, NHS England says
New guidance says trans patients should be cared for on single-sex hospital wards or bays that align with their biological sex.

I know I’m one of the more fortunate, but I took out private health insurance through work when the Tories were pushing this a few years ago. Sadly, it only covers some things and I don’t plan on allowing myself to be admitted to an NHS hospital!

Sadly, even if they were safe I doubt there will be many of us offered separate rooms long term - the media would soon attack that as a “perk” even if the NHS has had enough side rooms (which they don’t). They just want to hurt us when we’re at our most vulnerable - as ever, cruelty is the point.

Similarly following a 3 day weekend: 4 car showrooms (one salesman asked about my accent - apparently he thought I was from abroad!) 1 cafe 2 motorway service stations 1 hairdressers 1 supermarket 1 farm shop Uses of appropriate female facilities: Multiple Incidents of Transphobia: Zero

Many thanks to Bethany for her support - sadly, the BBC have once more shown why the trans community detest them so much! They happily showcase any anti-trans crank with an axe to grind on the BBC news, but actively censor any message of support for us.

I never had one of those - by the time I bought an EOS 100. My current R3 has more dials than I really need.

I don’t mind large, but it needs to be a car not a SUV. I’m thinking an estate incase I need to shove what I can in the car and escape the UK.

Ah yes, I had a T70 in about ‘85 which was all buttons and no dials. It was a good camera, but very slow to use.

I get the need in the HUD to keep the size down, just not on the dash where the screen is showing largely pointless alternative information.

The salesman in the Audi dealer virtually accused me of being a Luddite for not thinking their plethora of poorly designed screens and lack of physical buttons was the greatest thing since sliced bread!

It has a rev gauge in a traditional format - in an automatic. Just no speed gauge - it’s only numbers.

ClaireHam @claireham.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Oh, and why does Audi think you only need speed as a number with no digital gauge in their current cars? It might be just me, but that seems like a really poor UI design.

I spent much of yesterday looking at new cars incase my 18yo car doesn’t get through the MOT at the end of the month. I drew 2 conclusions: 1) The prices are insane now 2) The manufacturers seem to have forgotten they need to be driven and aren’t PlayStations!

In the unlikely event it turns out there really is an all-powerful god, I suspect the first people he’ll be taking issue with are the christian fundamentalists who use the bible as nothing more than an excuse for hatred and bigotry!

20 years on and the decision to go ahead with GRS is still probably the best decision I ever made. I hope it all comes together for you 🤞

I thought it was “There are lies, damned lies and EHRC codes of practice”? 🤷‍♀️

What kind of messed-up GC mental gymnastics do you need to be able to do to think that the inhuman treatment of our community meted out by the courts, the EHRC and HMG represents no change?

That wasn’t something I felt. Sadly, Starmer had gone all transphobic in an interview a few weeks before the election so it was obvious they were every bit as bad as the others. I must admit, the ideological zeal of their attack surprised me though.

The UK is not a safe country for trans children. Please read Cal's heartfelt piece, particularly if you're cis. Trans people, and trans children especially, need cis people in the UK to understand how bad things are, because we can't change it for the better without your help 🙏🏻

Commercial charging just costs so much in comparison to home charging though. It feels like a tax on those that can’t afford a property with its own charging infrastructure.

That sounds familiar - mine is 18yo and due an MOT later this month. I’m probably going to look at the dealers before it goes in so that I know what to replace it with if needed. Sadly, I can’t charge an EV at my flat, so it will have to be a hybrid.

They don’t actually want to rejoin the EU because the CJEU would strike down a big chunk of their policy platform, including their exclusion of our community and their wars on other groups.

I must get back out there with a camera! I used to do loads of wildlife photography and used to win the advanced league at a large specialist wildlife photography club fairly regularly, but I’ve not done much since Covid……

I‘m back and feeling a lot better - 2026 has been a shocking year for me even putting aside the ongoing onslaught against trans people. I just needed a break! I might be a bit quiet initially as I catch up on what’s been happening and gradually work my way back into posting.

I‘ve never read the books - I was an adult when they came out. I’ve seen the films - they were OK I guess, no better than that and they seemed derivative. The films also ruined Laycock Abbey, the home of Henry Fox Talbot, because the place gets flooded with Potter fans.

I'm not going to engage with sealioning. Let's get back to the matter at hand with a little history lesson: World Pride is a periodic/semi-annual event organized by Texas-based non-profit InterPride. Since 2000, it has been held in 10 cities across the world with varying success. 1/

I’m not convinced. Winning World Pride now would be a PR boost for Labour and they would argue there can’t be an issue with our treatment because for their success in attracting the event. The pay-off you describe is 6 years away and would diminish the event. Rejecting London would be clear message.

Holding World Pride in the UK would be a serious mistake by the organisers. No member of the trans community should come to the UK for this unless they’re already stuck here - it isn’t safe!

What, cis customers don’t like that to go out for the day it’s expected that they dehydrate and cross their legs? I thought given that’s what they want us to do that they were fans of UTIs or something….. 🤷‍♀️

Yay, you’re back! 😀 You didn’t miss much - Labour did some dark deed or other that I can’t quite remember and Yvette Cooper is now looking to essentially ban us from being treated in hospitals. Other than that, all’s quite.

They do ask that, they aren’t immune from trans broken arm syndrome sadly and most health insurances don’t cover anything trans healthcare related.

ClaireHam @claireham.bsky.social · 07/08/2026
They will. It’s just that the private sector have far more private rooms with en-suite facilities so it’s less of an issue.

Emergency admission is the thing that scares me. I’m not sure if I’d be willing to go to hospital even if that was dangerous. For elective stuff, I have private health insurance through work so can get a private room. But, I shouldn’t have to pay for the insurance and I know others aren’t able to 🙁
