I see Google's getting a bit jazzy with its tooltips this morning.

Perplexity told me to eat these. Nice try, AI bot. (Note: I am not planning to eat them and wouldn't even if someone said it was fine. So please don't @ me 😀)

Lush closed its UK stores, factories, and online operations today. I didn’t realise until I saw the news on TikTok. Good on them for taking a stand. Shops in ROI are closed tomorrow.

Has the UK technology editor at the Guardian never come across custom GPTs? This is the kind of nonsense that sparks AI psychosis. Why is the Guardian publishing this.

Another example of AI chat bots and terrible UX, this time from #Barclays. No other options to contact Barclaycard except via phone, and the lines are closed. This is an obstacle, not an assistant.

If your AI chat bot is a front end for your content and nothing more, get rid of it, because I guarantee customers hate it. This one from Haven: - can’t connect me to a real person out of hours - can’t get my last surname right, because it doesn’t accept two words

Tried again with MCP. I've noticed LLMs can't define Model Context Protocol without search (it's too new, even for Gemini). This time, I got a good answer, but related searches are entirely in Spanish.

Using Perplexity Pro to learn about MUVERA (Google). The answer is great, but related questions have a mix of topics about MUVERA and MuReva (a company). Some don't make sense at all. Search vs training data clash? (There's also a drug called Muvera, but that doesn't get a mention!)

Just sent my 6 year old a pic of the cat and she asked me if it’s AI. Kids are smart (it wasn’t AI though!)

Our kitten caught his first bird and brought it in the house to play with. So that’s the kitten honeymoon officially over. (Birdy seems fine and is at the vets for a check-up.)

Is your laptop really yours until your kitten: 1. Walks across the keys to add sjdhfienassssss to the article you’re working on 2. Carefully positions himself on top of it and falls sleep 3. Tries to bite the corners of the screen (Yes, this is how he falls asleep every night)

OMG. This AI Overview recommends SEARCHING GOOGLE for the answer to my question. Yes, I’ve tried that, and there’s a massive and completely useless AI Overview in the way of the results….
Part of an AI Overview that says: Search for "FreePrints Photobooks promo code" or "FreePrints discount code" on search engines like Google.

Found the limit. This is the first time I have ever seen Claude give up. (Sonnet 4). I moved over to Opus and it fixed the problem immediately. I guess giving up is better than repeatedly making the issue worse, but still.
Want to just fix the desktop layout issue in your next deployment and call it good?

This pair of AI Overviews are confusing. Same query worded differently. They actually say the same thing, but the second one answers the wrong question, making it look like they contradict each other.

RIP, Betty. We lost her, and we miss her. She had a terrible start in life (before we got her) and never really recovered. But she had a happy 11 years with us. I’m glad we had the opportunity to look after her. She’s the one being taken for a walk (pic from a few years ago).

Oof. I thought it was weird that Drip sent me a random email. Not a great look, but a good email apology. Anyone who has worked in email marketing knows that your pulse quickens every time you hit ‘send’! We’ve all been there.

Not seen this before: ChatGPT now billing in local currencies. This makes ChatGPT more expensive than before (the GBP price adds VAT plus a pound or two on top). You can use the country switcher under the table to flip it back to USD.

I have a dear little dog who was intensively bred from and abused before I got her. She hasn’t been eating much and we thought we lost her yesterday. She just had a tiny snack 🙌 (she prefers to eat off the floor). And I might actually get some sleep tonight 😮‍💨
