Does anyone know what's up with the persistent and now very large area of convection on the northwest edge of Hurricane #Polo? Fascinating structure and evolution to watch!

Still a lot to unravel in the ongoing calamity after Wednesday's glacier collapse and flood catastrophe in the Himalayas. It's clear enough that our human-warmed climate is destabilizing glaciers and permafrost. @climateconnections.bsky.social yaleclimateconnections.org/2026/08/the-...

Nice downburst and low-level KDP core on the west side of Little Rock around 2pm on 7/3. These KDP cores can show where there is precip loading and melting, which are things that help create stronger downbursts.

Large fires continue to burn in CO. Thankfully, the Willow Fire near Leadville did not grow a lot, but that is sadly not the case for other fires, especially the #AspenAcresFire southwest of Pueblo. Satellite image is from 6:31pm MDT and image is of the #WillowFire on Monday afternoon.

I've got to say that I'm really disappointed in the recent discourse surrounding the RCP8.5 scenario. The lack of context and understanding is something I expected from the usual suspects, but it's frustrating to see such bad takes from people and outlets who should know better.

This incredible heat wave 🥵 is rewriting the record books for Colorado’s snowpack. 🏔️ We're currently witnessing a snow drought of historic proportions.🤯 With ~2 weeks of record-smashing temps across the Western US, our mountains are losing what little snow they had—fast. 📉 🧵 1/9 #cowx

This is now the all-time March record high temperature for Leadville, CO (elev near 10,000ft), and they could break it again tomorrow. 64 degrees would be a nice warm day at the end of May, so seeing it now is crazy. Record highs are being set all over the West. #WesternHeat #HeatWave #ClimateChange

Well, if yesterday's map was ridiculous, I'm running out of superlatives to characterize today's. Countless locations from Pacific Coast to Great Plains are currently experiencing all-time record March warmth, w/ some locations approaching/exceeding April (or even May) records.
Map of U.S., from coolwx.com, showing locations currently experiencing record-breaking temperatures. There are countless such locations in the Western U.S., with hundreds of red dots (locations breaking daily record highs) and many dozens of pink dots (locations breaking March monthly record highs). The region of record heat extends from the Pacific Coast to the Great Plains, and from Canada to Mexico.

There is No Scientific Justification to Revoke the Endangerment Finding
The U.S. EPA's decision to repeal the Endangerment Finding will limit the government's ability to regulate emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.

Very unusual weather in Leadville, a town at 10,152 ft in CO, this Dec. High temps soared above 50F 5 times and they set 6 record daily highs. Even crazier, it rained on Christmas Day! Growing up, it would not even rain on Halloween. The weird weather is due in part to human-caused #ClimateChange.
