This sumarises my issue with efficient markets, even tho I like basic capital model principles. “Markets allocate goods to those with the greatest willingness to pay. This blends two things: how much you want something, and how much money you have.” newsletter.platypuseconomics.com/p/the-kim-ka...

Markets would give Kim K the last slice of pie, and calling that “efficient” is an ethical judgement.

There are almost no crustaceans in the deep ocean. Not because they would get crushed, but because they would DISSOLVE. The cold & high pressure cause changes to water that make it very corrosive to calcium carbonate shells. But there's one crustacean who solves this problem with ALUMINUM ARMOR.

I do think the capital model has driven amazing corporate innovation and capability. And I believe A.I. will help accelerate many scientific discoveries and operational efficiencies. But I also think it breaks the basic capital model serving most of society through employment opportunities

OK. Now I’m confused by New Weird Math (NWM). If a reduction from $100 to $10 is 900%% (using the NWM bigly percentage symbol), isn’t $600 to $10 a 5,900%% reduction? I mean, if we’re gonna go that way, take the win. Don’t undersell it as 590%% (which I’m sure is what he actually meant)

“Working hard” is not a cure for depression. Depression disables the ability to find the energy to work hard (or socialise, go shopping, etc. etc). The “work hard to overcome depression” is a bad and persistent misunderstanding of the condition by those that don’t suffer from it
