Have to agree, not seen a flat bottom and I imagine it would be more flexible\bad vs a chassis plate with detail adding a degree of rigidity? Caveat, I only have HW that are based on real cars ... Exhibit A - 2026 New tool Starion

#Italeri #Porsche 911 993 Turbo As well as the 512TR, the dry weather at weekend allowed me to get Zero Porsche Turquise Green airbrushed on and clear coated, now needs a good few days or so to harden fully.

Thanks for all the interest in steam engine, completing what original builder started ~40y ago. This is what I received, everything in box except a small piece of chain for bell - replacement sourced via eBay. Remember selling these in 80s working at model shop, not seen one built as I recall

Something different - Bandai 1/16 Pendle Princess. Local chap started ~40y ago, gave to model club to finish. I took it on, boiler\cab\geartrain were assembled but lots to do. In style of earlier work I left a lot of plastic unpainted other than details. Imposing if a little rough around edges.

#ItaliaGB #Revell #Ferrari 512TR update OK, new compressor in place - airbrushes (2 x H&S Ultra) not quite right (need new needles?) but managed to get coat of Blu Chiaro on heavily diluted with Mr Levelling Thinner. Few bits of crud to be removed then next coat(s) which might darken tone as well

Good news is new airbrush compressor is here and looks great. Bad news is I never thought to check hose connection, old Badger end has 1/4in but Fengda seems to have ‘standard’ 1/8in so now ordered a new hose. More waiting!

Been chasing air issues with airbrush for while - tried new fittings, pressure controls etc. Today when trying to refit things again it became clear what the issue is - outlet from tank has cracked (metal fatigue ?) - not easy to replace. New compressor ordered (to be fair old Badger was 15y old)

Back from a few days away in NE of UK. Finally visited the Jim Clark museum in Duns which I have wanted to do for long time. Simply excellent collection of his 100+ trophies, memorabilia and currently these 4 race cars. We also stopped off at Chirnside church graveyard to pay respects.

Funnily enough I have ordered touch up pot for the Ferrari, will do test first otherwise will order Zero etc but will need clear coat. Have reasonable hopes - Hasegawa Porsche 944 was airbrushed with Audi touch up pot (I had an A4) with Mr Levelling Thinner over primer, was pleased with result.

Cont / Italeri cheapskates used 964 chassis\interior and just did a 993 body. 964 kits have sprue with seat backs that isn't in the 993 kit (hence need to fill) Random exhaust part I found on bench is from 964 kit too - instructions (un)helpfully show empty space on sprue rather than an outline

#Revell #Ferrari 512TR #histscalemodels #ItaliaGB Body clean up underway including getting the US spec marker lights filled in. Chrome sprue stripped with bleach, will be easier to glue and hopefully look better when painted than the plastic shiny look, especially the wheels.

Some progress over the weekend with the #Italeri #Porsche 911 993 Turbo. Certainly not Tamiya level shake'n'bake, filler on rear wing and milliput\filler to fill hollow seat backs. Front bumper is meant to go on after paint but no way that is going to look good so joining up to body now.
