MICS? There isn't a huge difference in recovery times identified. Roughly 8.3 days in the ICU vs 6.3 days in the ICU with MICS. *If* there is even a difference (two studies found centers likely established and competent for MICS saw no difference in ICU time). pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
ICU length of stay: Most studies showed shorter ICU stay for MICS patients. Jawad [27] and Ayers [36] reported reduced ICU days. In Sun [37] and Gosev [38], the difference was not significant, especially in centers with high surgical volume and established MICS protocols.

Extremely unlikely that seven days would be sufficiently long.
• Most patients are in the ICU for 4-5 days after your LVAD implant depending on the pace of your recovery
• You will have a procedure called an echocardiogram to evaluate how your heart and LVAD are working together
You will continue to be monitored very closely while you awaken from surgery. Once you are awake and able to breathe on your own, the breathing tube will be removed.
Depending on the pace of recovery, patients typically remain in the ICU for four to five days while intravenous medications are weaned. During the ICU stay multiple tests are performed including laboratory testing, echocardiograms and chest X-rays. Physical and occupational therapists as well as a dietician will begin working closely with you throughout your recovery.
You will be transferre to the Intermediate IC to continue recovery. On average patients remain in the hospital for 14
- 21 days after LVAD implantation. During this time you and your caregivers will begin learniny about your new device.
Members of your LVAD team will help you understand:

Went to Goodreads to take a gander at the reviews. Did not disappoint. 🤣
In the end I would not recommend approaching this book as a balanced or scholarly analysis of technology and politics. It is rhetorically confident but analytically thin, full of broad claims supported by selective anecdotes and philosophical framing that never quite holds together.
Anyone who is genuinely interested in reading about the intersection of technology, power, and democracy need not apply.
* A few note scraps—
Introduction:
- The author spends way too much time in the introduction defining "information." It comes off as sophomoric—as if he doesn't really know where to start his central thesis.I was ready for a full exposition and assessment on how both parties have used media and technology for propaganda and controlling public opinion. However, releasing a book in 2026 about this topic and your argument basically being that Obama created a monstrous machine with the government's alignment with Silicon Valley, Russiagate was fake, COVID vaccines don't work, equating January 6th with BLM protests, that people shouldn't care about global issues because they haven't experienced them and are just going with "the masses" and essentially leaving out any criticism towards the way the current administration has engaged in a multitude of practices to verage media and technology for their own agenda? I can't trust someone whose bias is so strong they can't even be thorough in exploring this topic from all angles. There is so much material to drag people from both partes, but hey if you want to push your agenda I guess that's your right to spread whatever ideas you believe in.

Perhaps, but "must" isn't typical speech for documents of this sort. That entire screencapped section is multi-page footnote discussion explicitly surrounding Clause 1, which uses "shall" for its rule.

"I'm going to see that complaint imminently," Warner said. "I have not received it, but I think it is literally today or tomorrow."
Warner said the Gang of Eight, which is made up of the top Democrat and Republican in both chambers of Congress as well as the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees, had repeatedly asked Gabbard's agency to turn over the complaint.

Commenter emphasized.
\\
"It took six months of bipartisan pressure to get them to bring it forward" Warner added.
\\

A whistleblower filed the complaint of wrongdoing, whose contents are not known, against Gabbard in May, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday. A spokesperson for the inspector general told the outlet that the intelligence community inspector general decided when it was filed that some elements of the complaint were credible, and that other elements could not be determined either way.

This rationale makes even less sense. If the saved money would later be lost/spent for something unexpected, isn't one *worse* off later when they do need it? The immediate gratification results in greater debt/pain later.
That message has a special resonance for the working parents we heard from. Between raising two young boys and putting in long hours at a marketing job in Atlanta, Kevin Caldwell can almost never find the time to make dinner. So he and his husband spend about $700 a week to order in.
"I am so burned out and tired, I would rather just throw my credit card at the problem and delay that unhappiness until the bill comes," he said.
His 4-year-old son doesn't read yet, "but he can put together an order" on the Chick-fil-A app, said Mr. Caldwell, 39. "I am impressed, but I am also terrified."

Trump administration demands states 'undo' full SNAP payouts as states warn of
"catastrophic impact"
BY SCOTT BAUER AND NICHOLAS RICARDI
Updated November 09, 2025 12:49 PM
President Donald Trump's administration is demanding states
"undo" full SNAP benefits paid out under judges' orders last week, now that the U.S. Supreme Court has stayed those rulings, marking the latest swing in a seesawing legal battle over the anti-hunger program used by 42 million Americans.
The demand from the U.S. Department of Agriculture came as more than two dozen states warned of "catastrophic operational disruptions" if the Trump administration does not reimburse them for those SNAP benefits they authorized before the Supreme Court's stay.
Nonprofits and Democratic attorneys general sued to force the Trump administration to maintain the program in November.
They won the favorable rulings last week, leading to the swift release of benefits to millions in several states.

A truth back then and one that still perpetuates itself today across society. Fame begets infamy because so often it also begets an amorality in the individual.
That belief became cemented with his success remaking Harvard biology. The legendary biologist E.O. Wilson, who was on the losing end of Watson's putsch, called him "the most unpleasant human being I had ever met," one who treated eminent professors "with a revolutionary's fervent disrespect. ... Watson radiated contempt in all directions." But in a desson Watson apparently over-learned, "his bad manners were tolerated because of the greatness of the discovery he had made."

This little info bit from Novartis's website on Pluvicto is just wild to me
Radiation exposure to **others** is about the same as 3 flights.
After one dose of PLUVICTO, a care partner may be exposed to the same amount of radiation as 3 flights from the East Coast to the West Coast of the United States.

Based on its shelf-life after validation, I can imagine why Adams might have some issues moving his administration date up. Unless he's taking someone else's dosing, I presume he's limited by manufacturing wait times, not anything specific to his HCO.
HOW SUPPLIED/STORAGE AND HANDLING
PLUVICTO Injection containing 1,000 MBq/mL (27 mCi/mL) of lutetium Lu 177 vipivotide tetraxetan is a sterile, preservative-free and clear, colorless to slightly yellow solution for intravenous use supplied in a clear, colorless Type I
glass 30 mL single-dose vial containing 7.4 GBq (200 mCi) = 10% of lutetium Lu 177 vipivotide tetraxetan at the date
and time of administration (NDC# 69488-010-61). The solution volume in the vial can range from 7.5 mL to 12.5 mL in order to provide a total of 7.4 GBq (200 mCi) of radioactivity at the date and time of administration.
The product vial is enclosed within a lead shielded container (NDC# 69488-010-61) for protective shielding and placed in lastic sealed container. The product is shipped in a type A package (NDC# 69488-010-61).
The shelf life is 120 hours (5 days) from the date and time of calibration Store below 30°C (86°F). Do not freeze. Store in the original package otect from ionizing radiation (lead shielding).
Store PLUVICTO in accordance with local and federal laws on radioactive materials.
Do not use PLUVICTO after the expiration date and time which are stated on the label.
Dispose of any unused medicinal product or waste material in accordance with local and federal laws.
Lutetium-177 for PLUVICTO may be prepared using two different sources of stable nuclides (either lutetium-176 or ytterbium-176) that require different waste management. Lutetium-177 for PLUVICTO is prepared using ytterbium-176 ("non-carrier added") unless otherwise communicated on the product batch release certificate.

I thought I misread that radiation dose, but is literally 7400000000 Becquerel (7.4 gigaBecquerel, mostly beta emission) of radioisotope. That's, uh, kind of hot.
PLUVICTO contributes to a patient's overall long-term cumulative radiation exposure. Long-term cumulative radiation exposure is associated with an increased risk for cancer.
Minimize radiation exposure to patients, medical personnel, and others during and after treatment with PLUVICTO consistent with institutional good radiation safety practices, patient treatment procedures, Nuclear Regulatory Commission patient-release guidance, and instructions to the patient for follow-up radiation protection at home.
Ensure patients increase oral fluid intake and advise patients to void as often as possible to reduce bladder radiation.
Before the patient is released, inform patients about the necessary radioprotection precautions to follow to minimize radiation exposure to others see Patient Counseling Information (17)].
After each administration of PLUVICTO, advise patients to:
• Limit close contact (less than 3 feet) with others for 2 days or with children and pregnant women for 7 days.
• frain from sexual activity for 7 days.
• Sleep in a separate room from others for 3 dav
from children for 7 days, or from pregnant women for 15 days.

I would agree it's semantics. But the semantics don't always help when those in power can dismiss it because they don't meet X (fascism) while they're doing Y (authoritarianism). We should be screaming they're doing Y, and not be sliding the Overton window for them. Just my 2¢.
A summary of key takeaways provided for "authoritarianism vs fascism" generated by Google AI:

Key takeaways ®
• Hierarchy: All fascists are authoritarians, but not all authoritarians are fascists.
• Ideological depth: Fascism is a more specific and ideologically driven form of authoritarianism, with a focus on national glory and racial purity in some instances, while authoritarianism is a broader term for any non-democratic concentration of power.
• Goals: While both suppress opposition, fascism has the added goal of creating a radical, often militarized, national identity and reorganizing society to serve the state's perceived destiny.

There are lots of Americans already considering that. Already heard rumblings of this among expats I know. www.myexpattaxes.com/expat-tax-ti...
Now, they are asking a hard question: if you lose your say in US democracy, should you still have to pay US taxes?"
The 2024 MyExpatTaxes US
Election Survey, the largest of its kind, includes responses from 1,477 Americans living in 89 countries. The results show just how deeply expats feel this tension. 64% agreed with the sentiment that "no taxation without representation" still applies today. Nearly 60% said they would give up the right to vote if it meant not having to file US taxes. At the same time, 73% reported casting ballots from abroad, underscoring how vital absentee voting remains.
As lawmakers debate these changes, one thing is clear: stripping voting rights while upholding tax obligations risks further alienating millions of Americans abroad.

I love the irony in how their argument starts out. I feel like this entire administration has misapprehended governance/authority in every case they've been in while trying to push the envelope of the law, then feigning ignorance when they're contested.
ARGUMENT
Plaintiffs Are Not Likely To Succeed on the Merits.
A.
Plaintiffs' Statutory Arguments Misapprehend ORR's Authority.
Plaintiffs' statutory arguments fail because they misapprehend the governing statutory
scheme. HHS has longstanding statutory authority to reunify unaccompanied alien children
(UACs) with their parents abroad. 6 U.S.C. § 279(b)(1)(H) authorizes the Department of Health
and Human Services' Office of Refugee Resettlement ("ORR") to "reunit[e] unaccompanied alien
children with a parent abroad in appropriate cases." That authority fits together harmoniously with
the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 ("TVPRA") and the Immigration
and Nationality Act ("INA").

I don't see how Nichols's statement is in contrast to this? He literally states how those terms didn't arise within politics as your citation states. He instead says it would benefit Dems if those terms disappeared, depriving Cons of that ammunition.
I don't know anyone at Third Way and had never encountered that group or website before, so none of this is "personal", but when someone asks me to look at congressional word usage - I'm pretty much always up for it.
I agree that many of the words listed have more negatives than positives in political arenas. But the idea that Democrats have been the ones driving these terms into the public sphere is worth checking against the evidence. Terms like "woke," "critical race theory," "diversity, equity, and inclusion" didn't come out of Congress, they migrated from leftist activist or academic spaces.
•
and then were repeated endlessly by Republicans more-so than Democrats, but in a way to complain that Democrats had been using them too much. In fact, this is the topic of a book I'm working on (and if that's interesting to you, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on the matter).

Refresh me…*why* are Texans so happy to have Cruz as a US Senator?
Flight data shows Sen. Ted Cruz could have rushed back to his flood-hit Texas constituency after the deaths of 100 people — including 27 girls and counsellors at a summer camp, the Daily Beast reported Tuesday.

Instead, he was seen touring the Parthenon in Athens, a full day after the Guadalupe River burst its banks. When confronted by a witness who said, "20 kids dead in Texas and you take a vacation?" Cruz reportedly "grunted and walked on" while his wife shot dirty looks.

Despite his office claiming Cruz returned from Greece "as fast as humanly possible" after the tragedy hit Friday, flight data obtained by the Beast shows multiple flights from Athens to San Antonio were available on both Friday and Saturday that would have gotten Cruz back to Texas significantly earlier than his Sunday return.

Commercial options included Saturday morning departures connecting through Chicago, Atlanta, or Washington D.C. that would have landed him in San Antonio that same evening. Friday flights were also available once the flooding's severity became apparent.

As a senator, Cruz also had access to private charter jets for emergency travel.

Considering how the Republican Party and Trump have treated the rule of law over the past decade, I think that's a bigger factor than blaming the schools. Schools teach the theory, but what they're seeing in practice is far from it. 😡
As many legal experts express grave concern about Trump's attacks on law firms and with several federal judges advancing inquiries into whether the administration is refusing to comply with court orders, Roberts took a longer-term view Monday. He blamed schools for shortchanging civics education and leaving students with little understanding of the structure of U.S. government or the role of the courts.
"That's really too bad," the chief justic told graduating students at the law school. "We're developing a situation where a whole group of young people is growing up having no real sense about how our system of justice works."|
