To measure the effects, we commissioned polling from @survation.bsky.social (Aug 2026), finding that women were more likely than men to say they’d been made less happy at home by the recent heatwaves, producing a ‘heatwave gender gap’.

Despite this, over 13% of jobs in London are still paid below the London Living Wage, which is currently £14.80 an hour. The Making London Work for All initiative will ensure that fair pay also addresses the links between health inequalities, housing, immigration and work.

The first phase of the initiative, ‘Making London a Living Wage City’, secured over 70,000 pay rises nationally through London-headquartered employers, generating a total of £628m in economic value for London. 🙌
