With the bot farm down we figured we’d test just how many of the “people” who come screaming in our comments about the “sinister” intent behind having grocery stores, parks, & other businesses and amenities within walking or biking distance of their front door are real and how many live on a server.

If driving is a privilege, why do we build like it’s the default mode of transportation and offer few, if any, viable alternatives?

(Seriously, these loses are getting more and more embarrassing and we’re not sure even King James is gonna be able to make a difference 💔)

And this is all in the FIRST WEEK since they closed the Academy… If Philadelphia sports teams want to break the Merlot Curse, Drexel must IMMEDIATELY reopen the Academy of Natural Sciences to the public!

Without other traffic calming elements, painted on bike lanes are often only slightly better than nothing. In most instances, bike lanes need physical protection, ideally concrete and/or metal, and/or they should be given grade separation from the street / road.

1 / 3 Americans can’t rely on personal cars to get around. Some are too old or too young Some have disabilities Some can’t afford it And some just can’t get a license For these people, every week is a week without driving, so why aren’t we doing more to help a third of our neighbors get around?

Drexel may be trying to take away the Academy, but you can still help to rescue it. Go to save-the-academy.org#act to sign the petition, call your elected leaders if you live in PA, and keep the pressure on to find a way to re-open this vital cradle of science and learning.

Don't mourn — organize. The museum's last public day is Sunday, Sept 27. Ten things you can do today.

Giving people the ability to live car free or car lite if they so choose has been shown to give everyone, including drivers, greater wealth, health, and overall quality of life.

Cities of Lions @citiesoflions.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
Whether you are car free, car lite, or prefer to drive, we ALL benefit from people having the freedom to choose how they get around. Forcing people to use any single mode of transportation isn’t freedom, and the status quo of forced car dependence, is a perfect example of AUTO-cracy.

It’s another gadgetbahn which distracts from the real and proven high speed rail and maglev options we already have and should be building.

The hyperloop is the perfect example of “oh an engineer designed this didn’t they?”. It assumes for machine precision at all levels, doesn’t account for numerous human realities and scaling issues, to say nothing of numerous points of failure. Oh, and it doesn’t even run at the advertised speed.🧵

When we worked for a state DOT many years ago, we helped dissuade them from pursuing hyperloop because it was dumb then and it’s dumb now. 🧵 (Image credit @thetransitguy.com)

Thank to the @mta.info for keeping us moving when the world stood still. On 9/11 and the days and months which followed the brave men and women of the MTA saved thousands of lives and kept New York City moving. After 25 years, they do not receive nearly enough credit for their heroic actions.

Looking for urbanists and creators who live in countries where you can bring your pets into restaurants and/or onto transit without a crate/carrier. We are working on a video on pet friendly urbanism. DM us if you’re interested in helping out!

There’s gotta be a word for bike oriented rizz in Dutch 🚲 This wasn’t a one off. We saw couples and friends riding like this all over the place. Amazing what happens when you build a comprehensive and safe network of bike infrastructure 🙄

It forms a virtuous cycle to invest in both at once, rather than treating land use and transportation as separate issues.

Good transit oriented development builds ridership directly into a system and helps to fund the service. Transit oriented development also enables greater density, which helps to increase the amount of housing which is being built per acre.

Till all are one 🫡 Peter Cullen brought many characters to life over the years, but few as iconic as the original Optimus Prime. He taught people across the stars that freedom is the right of all sentient beings, and that all of us have it within our power to transform our world for the better.

Even if you never take the bus, you still benefit from quality service being run in your community.

Investing in frequent, effective, and reliable bus service helps eliminate unnecessary car trips, better managing congestion, while also increasing freedom and mobility, reducing pollution, and boosting economic productivity and equity.

As seen on a bus in Copenhagen. And it’s true. Even if you assumed every car was filled to capacity, a bus still carries as many as 6 or more cars in the space of 2 or 3 cars. And cars are rarely filled to capacity.

(To be clear, helmets aren’t a bad idea to wear, especially for children who are more likely to take tumbles.)

Helmets protect you from potholes and tumbles. They don’t protect you from vehicular crashes. Guess which is statistically the biggest danger to bike riders of all ages?
